"Ma, I’m ready to hear anything. Just please tell me what you found and how it can solve the mystery behind whatever deal Father made with these people," Violet said, her voice tinged with urgency.

Alex took a deep breath, her gaze intense. "Okay, listen carefully. What I’m about to tell you is not just for your knowledge; it’s a warning not to make the same mistakes your father and I did."

She paused, gesturing with her hands as if to emphasize the gravity of her words. "Going through our family’s history, I found a familiar face—a name that might surprise you. I’ll just show you." She turned the computer towards Violet, revealing the image of a woman with olive skin and platinum hair. "That lady you’re looking at is your godmother, my best friend, and sister from the Wicca Kingdom."

Violet’s eyes widened in confusion. She remembered having a godmother who had moved away when she was young, but the realization that her mother had a supernatural friend left her speechless.

Sensing her daughter’s bewilderment, Lex continued, explaining how she and her late husband, James, had met Doris at university. Doris had been a transfer student, stranded with nowhere to stay. Lex and James had taken her in, and the three became inseparable, practically siblings. They shared everything, and after graduation, they all found jobs but chose to stick together. James’ parents disapproved of his relationship with Lex due to racial prejudices, leading him to run away, while Lex, an orphan, relied on the modest inheritance left by her parents.

Their lives changed when an epidemic broke out, and Doris suggested they move to a haven—a place where many humans were fleeing to avoid contamination. James, eager to escape the disease, was quick to agree, and although Lex was hesitant, her friends convinced her to join them. They packed their belongings and left, only for Doris to reveal, once they had passed through a portal, that they were now in a supernatural world. Lex and James realized that they had been deceived into crossing over, as they would never have agreed had they known the truth.

Many of the nearly dead were transformed into supernatural creatures, but Doris stayed with them through it all. She was there when Lex and James got married and even helped James secure a job through her family connections. Doris remained a part of their lives until Violet was three when she found love and moved to the north with her husband.

After revealing everything to Violet, both mother and daughter agreed that finding Doris should be their priority before getting further involved with Xavier Pierce Vikan.
