Western Front 1918

She scrambled to her feet, grabbing Paul's hand as they ran through the muddy fields of Flanders fields. They got to the edge of the trenches. Angelika pushed Paul into the trench as she turned around and shot a man that was charging at her knife in hand. She took the knife and put it in the waistband of her trousers jumping into the trench. She turned left to see a French man trying to drown Paul in a puddle. She grabbed a rock, hitting him over the head and then beating him to death out of pure anger.

The couple continued running through the maze of trenches until a man picked a fight with her and Paul. Paul began fighting back until he pushed into a bunker. The small brunette pulled the knife out of her waist and stabbed him at least 5 times in the neck. She raced after Paul practically threw herself into the bunker. Paul stood close to the entrance and didn't see the two men standing behind him. Angelika screamed at the top of her lungs, "Paul behind you," but it was too late. She stood as she watched her first love get impaled by a bayonet. Right through his heart. She screamed, and then a man yelled that the war was over. However, she was not letting these men get away with what they had done and killed them as brutally as she could in the hope that they would feel the same pain as Paul and her.

She held Paul in her arms, crying and telling him how much she loved him and how proud she was if him. Before he passed, he muttered, "I will forever love you. I'm sorry I'm leaving you. I will always watch over you." He closed his eyes for the last time that day his hand in what he thought was his soulmates.

That day haunted Angelika till the day she died. She kept a box of letters, flowers, clothes, and a handkerchief  that had been passed through their friends. It had been given to Franz by a French woman he had met and ended in Angelikas possession after Paul passed.

After a few years, she decided to move from her family home in Germany to Hawaii to find a new life as a nurse. That brings us to how she met Danny. She was 15 when she lost Paul, and now she was 28. She had learnt how to hide her German accent in hopes of hiding the fact that she was from Germany.

1939

Angelika sat at her desk with 3 young men waiting in front of her. She opened a file and looked at the name, not looking up from her desk. "Thomas Smith, is it?"
"Yes, ma'am."
"Have you had any surgeries recently?"
"No ma'am"
"Have you felt ill recently?"
"No ma'am"

She scribbled her signature and handed the file to the blonde haired man. "I passed you good luck," she smiled. The man walked off as she opened another folder.
"Danny Walker?"
"Uh yes, miss," Angelika could tell he was nervous. It reminded her of when Paul was nervous. He became quite shy and would often mix up his words. She asked him all the mandatory questions and decided to have a bit of fun. She looked up and saw a young man about the same age as her. Chocolate brown that eyes seemed to glimer in the sunlight. Dark hair with a cute smile. "So Danny, how long have you been flying for."
"Since I was a boy." He said, a smile imprinted on his face. Angelika couldn't help but smile. "I've passed you. Make sure u make me proud, Danny."
"I promise I will don't you worry miss."
She handed him the folder, and he walked away much happier.

Angelika hadn't made many new friends yet. She hadn't been in America for that long. She had been sent by her employer. He said it would be good for her, get her mind off of Paul.
