NOTA SCRIPTORIS
okay so I'm clearly terrible at aesthetics (they're just to give you a rough idea etc etc). the map is also edited so that wendlyn and doranelle are both separate countries on the same continent.
this will be a long author's note so try to bear with me! if you want to skip, just make sure to read spoilers and vaughan. if you have any other questions whilst reading, feel free to comment. constructive criticism appreciated too :)
set over the course of heir of fire ONLY and replaces all chapters featuring celaena and/or rowan (I tried to make it to work so that you could technically pick up queen of shadows after reading this but it won't be a seamless transition)
contains spoilers! and also forgive me if the dialogue appears incredibly similar to the original in hof. I got quite lazy because I wanted it to be a drabble for leisure that I then got really sucked into writing (although all descriptions are my own and! I've included more rowan povs).
disclaimer that all characters belong to sarah j maas. additional names (e.g. last names, place names) are created by me. all have been taken from latin terms, such as carinae, which literally just translates to ships, and aureum, which translates to gilded. since the fae are ancient, I just took it as a fun opportunity to incorporate a classical language into this world. cough cough ilium (found north-east erilea) is sort of another name for troy (from classical mythology) and dianna (deanna in tog) was goddess of the hunt to the romans.
according to the og series, vaughan is an old broody male with dark hair and dark eyes. he plays a larger role here (I've changed his appearance/personality quite a bit since he never really got any spotlight or chance to develop in the series at all)
I wrote this whilst listening to various playlists on youtube by: the academia, the dreamers, classical dreamers. the streets of belgrade by infinity ripple absolutely sets the scene for mistward if you're reading at night.
best read in a font similar to times new roman if format can be changed depending on device you're reading from!
