Chapter 6- Lost It All

Lilly POV

Within a matter of seconds, the three of us were on high alert, I looked around for any signs of movement in the trees. "Are there other immersion stations on the island?" Ben questioned. "Just this one," Yaz answered. I heard a distant scream. "And the speakers are off," Yaz added.

"There!" Ben yelled pointing at a dinosaur that had just appeared at the other side of the park. "Okay guys, I'd say, it's time to bounce," I muttered. "Yup," Ben said as the dinosaurs moved closer to us. "Go, go, go, go, go!" Yaz yelled and we began to run toward Ben's van.

Ben opened the back doors and we leaped inside, a man followed us jumping into the van for safety but he was dragged out again by the dinosaur. "Yaz," I called out as I watched the girl begin to hyperventilate, Ben reached back and put his hand on her shoulder. "Yaz, call Sammy," he instructed, and she took in a sharp breath before nodding.

We quickly sped away the dinosaur hot on our tail, "Where the hell did Sammy go!" Ben exclaimed as we drove. As we reached the end of the tunnel we saw a figure walking on the side of the road. It was Sammy. Ben began to honk the horn to get her attention. "Sammy! Get it," Yaz yelled out the window as she opened to door. I watched as Sammy began to run alongside the van trying to reach Yaz's hand, but before she could make it the dinosaur rammed into us, causing Ben to lose control.

A sharp pain radiated up my side as was thrown into the side of the van. "Come on!" I heard Yaz yell as she opened her door again holding out her hand. A few seconds later Sammy was in her lap clinging to her for dear life. All at once we yelled at Ben, "Drive!". "I'm working on it!" he yelled back before shifting gears and shooting past the dinosaur. "Big man's got moves," Yaz said as we sped across the bridge.

But all of a sudden in the middle of the bridge Ben slammed on the brakes. "Why are we stopping!" Sammy exclaimed. I looked ahead to the gate, it was open, and walking through it was another dinosaur. "That's why," I squeaked. "Look DPW!" Sammy said and I looked to see a truck driving up on the other side of the gate. "Okay, it's about time," Yaz said letting out a sigh of relief. I watched as one of the officers ran closer to the dinosaur and held up his tranquilizer rifle. Something wasn't right. He fired and the shot hit our windshield.

"That almost hit us!" Sammy exclaimed. "Guys," I said watching as the men reloaded, they were aiming at us. "Guys!" I said louder, but it was too late one of the darts had already hit our tire. "Why are they shooting at us?" Yaz questioned. "I don't know but Ben you need to get us out of here," I said placing my hand on the boy's shoulder, he nodded before shifting into reverse. The van flew backward until another dart hit our back tire bringing us to a halt. Then in a flash, one of the dinosaurs rammed into the van pushing us over the guard rails.

I didn't scream like the others, as we fell toward the dark murky water, I was in shock. My heart sank, as I looked at my friends, I took a shaky breath as a single tear ran down my cheek. I really couldn't protect anyone I cared about. Then we were engulfed in the dark blue water, just like that, it consumed us.

"Hey Lilly" a familiar voice sang as the door to my truck opened. "Oh, Sky!" I said a little surprised as I looked over at the boy who had just hopped into my truck. He was tall, and lanky, with dark brown hair that was purple on the sides. "Um, don't take this the wrong way. But. What are you doing here?" I questioned. "Wow. And here I thought you'd be happy to see my beautiful face. I'm hurt!" the boy said in an overly dramatic tone. "I am," I stuttered slightly, his comment caught me off guard a little, and I could feel a faint blush spreading across my cheeks. "You know I didn't mean it that way. It's just Darius was supposed to be working with me today," I explained.
