"HEY, JÜ! VIRGIE! OVER HERE!" a voice called them over to the bar, trying to get itself heard over the loud live music playing through hamburg's kaiserkeller club.
virginia carter held onto her boyfriend's hand for dear life as they were pushed around by the excited crowd. she didn't usually hang around this area of hamburg as it was sketchy, unsafe, and full of gangs and prostitutes, so she couldn't help but feel quite nervous.
after weeks of never shutting up about this one band playing at the indra club, her friends had finally managed to convince her to go see these boys perform live after they'd switched over to work at the kaiserkeller, a much more popular and less shabby club than the indra, although still owned by the same person.
"did we miss much?" jürgen vollmer asked the couple who had arrived before them. astrid kirchherr and her own boyfriend, klaus voormann composed the second half of their friend group. although they had all been friends long before virginia came along, she'd been introduced to the group by jürgen and they'd all taken a strong liking to her.
now keep in mind that while performing in these sort of clubs, each song lasted around twenty minutes and had about the same amount of solos in them.
"no they haven't even finished the first one." astrid kechherr was one of the prettiest if not the prettiest woman virginia had ever seen. with her sharp bangs and beautiful eyes, everything about her oozed confidence and genius. all heads would turn when she walked by, girls and boys alike, and they were all left stunned by astrid and her charms.
"well, i'm glad you guys made it, especially you. i can't believe this is your first time seeing the beatles!" klaus voormann really seemed like the perfect match for astrid. both were incredibly gifted artistically and were constantly introducing each other to new subcultures and ideas.
"and i can't believe you guys come here every night!" virginia shouted over the music. "i'm pretty sure i saw a couple fucking out by the entrance!" having spent a lot of time in a middle class family in a family friendly neighborhood, virginia had been quite shocked when first arriving in hamburg for her university exchange program. still, she'd managed to avoid most undesired neighborhoods up until her friends had decided to drag her out here.
astrid grinned. "you get used to it after awhile. say, can i get you a beer?" taking a glance at her surroundings, virginia quickly decided she didn't want to get drunk in such a place. "no thanks, i'll pass." she chuckled, shrugging off her coat with her boyfriend's help and sitting down on a stool between him and astrid.
from the place they were sitting at, they could observe the boys on stage without having to mingle with the sweaty and troublesome crowd in the center of the club. and only now did virginia take the time to get a good look at them.
they were three on guitar, one on bass and another on drums. with their teddy boy haircuts and leather jackets, she was already forming a mental image of what they were like. they all looked around her age, though one scrawny one felt slightly younger than the others. speaking of, her gaze kept coming back to the messy haired boy. his brows were thick and his cheeks hollow, and whenever he sang it was out of the corner of his mouth. she couldn't help but admit, he was rather skilled with a guitar.
