USED TISSUES LITTERED THE FLOOR, and in their center lay virginia. wrapped in many blankets and wearing an alarming amount of layers, she scribbled into her sketchbook. yet her eyes were unfocused and her lines lazy, so if you were to dare look at her creations you'd be surprised by whatever monstrosity she would have created.

every now and then, she would pause momentarily to stare at her work before groaning and ripping out the page. the space around her was now no longer filled with scattered tissues but also scrunched up pages from her notebook.

it seems virginia had been too careless with the increasingly cold weather, for she was now stuck in bed with an agonizing cold that had been keeping her incapacitated for the past few days. not wanting jürgen to catch whatever virus was inhabiting her body, she forced him to go stay at klaus' place the time she got better. he thought the whole concept of her kicking him out of his own home was ridiculous but he obliged anyways and she was now living all alone in the small apartment.

truth be told, although virginia had been the one to insist her boyfriend leave, she'd been growing quite lonely these past few days. sure, her friends had been paying her visits every now and then, klaus with a book he'd found for her to pass the time and astrid with a nice assortment of snacks to help her out on a more emotional level.

even paul had dropped by earlier that week to see how she was doing. she'd quite appreciated the gesture for although she'd insisted they shouldn't visit out of fear she would contaminate them, she was grateful for the company and once they'd made it clear they were going to keep coming until she felt better, she gave up trying to persuade them to leave her alone. it was a losing battle she decided she wouldn't fight. she simply didn't have the energy for it.

because of these recurring visits, virginia wasn't surprised to hear the bell ring that afternoon. she had been feeling slightly better since last night, and had actually managed to get a bit more sleep. she still didn't feel quite well rested, and her body was often taken over by violent shivers every now and then, but her headache seemed to have calmed down quite a bit and her voice had recovered a little.

which was good otherwise she'd have to refuse the boy ringing her door. with her blanket wrapped tight around her body, she slowly waddled over to the entrance of her home with a small shiver.

george's face lit up when the door actually opened. part of him didn't actually think it would, with the time it took for her to do so.

virginia stayed silent, blinking at the sight in front of her. she hadn't expected for it to be george, but she was glad it was him. she hadn't seen him in a while and to be honest she'd missed him and his honest features.

she only moved when george could no longer suppress the cold shiver that ran up his spine. she realized he must be freezing, in nothing more than his leather jacket (they didn't even bother heating the hallways between the apartments), and she quickly snapped out of her trance. "oh i'm sorry! do come on in, please. you've gotta be freezing!" her voice was dry and squeaky and george had to hold back a laugh at the sound of it. it was so different from her usual voice that anyone was bound to find it amusing.

she made her way back into the apartment, this time with george following close behind. "make yourself at home." she said kindly, before adding as an afterthought: "ignore the mess though." and, quickly, she picked up a few stray tissues littering the floor and dumped them into the bin.
