Chapter VI
It had been couple of weeks later, Sam and Sarah were walking at the center of the park. They were about to have lunch. They sat on the farthest table, away from most of the customers, when Sam noticed two very familiar faces entering the place.
"What's Owen and Claire doing together?" she frowned.
She hid her face using the menu. Though Owen and her became very close in a short span of time, she had a gut feeling that calling them over would be a bad idea.
"Are they on a date or something?" she muttered to herself.
"Mommy, I want chicken!" Sarah squealed excitedly.
Peeking out of the booklet in front of her face, she shook her head. "Okay, baby. Mommy's gonna cook. Right now, we have to leave, is that okay?"
"Yup!"
She got up slowly, trying to make sure that they wouldn't get caught. She carried her daughter outside. She looked at Owen and Claire once more, the two looking very awkward. She laughed a bit before walking away from that place, going home.
--
Sitting on her couch while caressing her girl's hair, as she slept with her head on her lap, there were a few knocks heard from her door. Getting up slowly, she made her way towards where the sound was coming from and opened it, to find Owen with a deep frown etched on his forehead. Without any word, he came in and slouched on her carpeted floor.
"What happened?" she asked, with her brows lifted.
"It didn't go too well," he answered cooly. "Like what I expected.
She feigned that she didn't know what he was talking about, "What do you mean?"
"Like you didn't see us earlier" he looked up to her.
"What?" she asked, after sitting down beside him on the floor.
"I saw you and Sarah leaving the restaurant."
"You saw us?"
"Uh-huh!" he answered, playing with her carpet.
"Oh!" she gasped. And there she thought, they went out unnoticed.
They were silent for a few minutes before he started talking again. "Aren't you gonna ask what I was doing there, having lunch with Claire?"
"Nope!" she said, popping out her lips.
"Why?" he stared at her.
"Well for one, it's both your private life. I don't think I got a say on that. Two, it was Claire!"
"And?"
"And I don't wanna be involve with anything that's got to do with her. Don't get me wrong, she's nice and all but she's too uptight. Not my kind of girl friend."
"Not mine either. Well, I thought she could be but I figured it out after leaving my untouched meal" he shrugged his shoulders.
She didn't say anything. If there's anything he wanted to tell her, she wouldn't ask. She would let him do all the talk.
"It was doing all good, you know? Not until she started talking about the raptors, my girls, like they're some robots. Plus, she ordered all greens. Could you imagine that? You were out on a date and yet, you wouldn't even eat a proper meal. The worst thing was, she got me the same! She didn't even ask what I wanted."
