12. play ball

I woke up bright and early the next morning still thinking about what's gonna happen at the game.

what if we lose? what if we win?

a half an hour later benny comes to the door to get me and scotty.

"you guys ready?"

"i guess" scotty says walking past benny who is holding the door. benny gives him a look

"whats up with him" benny says giving me a quick peck on the cheek

"he's just nervous he will be fine"

benny grabs my hand and we walk down the street while scotty is walking infront of us.

we eventually arrive at there field. and wowwee it was beautiful. it was like being in an actual stadium but without the actual stadium.

phillips' team was standing in a horizontal row with there arms crossed as we walk up.

"why hello there gorgeous"

"shut it pig!" i say back to phillips

"alright let's not do this philips" benny says stepping infront of me trying to be nice to him somewhat

"what are you to worried i'm gonna take your girlfriend?" phillips says mimicking him

benny turns around and looks at me

"just go along with it" benny whispers to me

benny than smashes his face into mine and are lips are pressing up against eachother. that was the first time any of the boys saw us kiss.

phillips gives benny and death glare and all of the sandlot boys gag and make retching noises

"alright enough with the lovey dovey crap let's start the game already" ham says

everybody gets in positions

"batter up!" squints says

"and play ball!" ham follows up.

for what seemed like an eternity it was finally the bottom of the ninth inning. both teams were tied
this was the final point.

i was up to bat. it felt like i was in slow motion walking up. i went to home plate and practiced my swing then got in position.

the ball was sent flying at me and i swung as hard and fast as i could my eyes were closed and when i opened them everyone was cheering. because i got a grand slam. everyone ran up to me and was cheering while i ran the bases. when i got to home plate i jumped into Benny's arms while everyone was still cheering.

i kissed him long and hard and I'm pretty sure i traumatized the boys.
we decided to celebrate by going to the town fair and to go on some rides.
