-Daniella has a younger brother named Tyler who goes to the same school as Peter and Moira, but he's usually seen as a troublemaker by the teachers and other students. He even attempts to flirt with Autumn, the younger sister of Daniella's boyfriend Roderick. She rejects Tyler every time

-Autumn is a couple of years younger than Peter and his friends, but is in the same class as them. She's very intelligent, academically gifted, and had already skipped two grades, but she's also something of a know-it-all who likes to brag about her accomplishments and doesn't believe in things like monsters or the supernatural

-Samuel Westenra and his father used to live in a large house made of red brick and it was one of the largest structures in New Holland. But after Samuel disappeared and John passed away, it's long been abandoned. But sometimes, people heard strange sounds coming from inside, rumors saying that the house was haunted have been speculating over time. No one dares to go near it anymore, mostly because anyone brave enough or stupid enough went inside the house never came out. Mayor Bergermeister attempted to have the building demolished at one point, but it never happened because the workers were scared off and now, not even he dares to mess with it

-John Westenra had kept a diary since the first day he and his son arrived in New Holland and he wrote down almost everything that happened. And on the day he died, he had his diary hidden under the floor of his house where it has stayed for generations

-In New Holland's younger days, when Loretta was still alive, there was a young schoolmaster named Varian. He was an introverted and shy young man, but also very intelligent and kind at heart. When he first arrived in New Holland, he quickly became infatuated with a sweet and demure young woman named Erika... a woman who Samuel Westenra was dead set on marrying

-When they heard Samuel had disappeared, Varian and Erika were both relieved. But that relief quickly turned to fear when they heard Samuel might've been murdered by a monster. Coupled with the almost nightly thunderstorms, this was too much to bear. Believing New Holland wasn't safe anymore, the both of them decided to elope, hop on the next ship to Europe, and never look back

-Samuel had a companion who was more of a bumbling, irritating sidekick than anything else: Baltus Bergermeister. He was spiteful, mean, quite annoying, and not very bright, but Samuel kept him around anyway. Baltus would accompany Samuel pretty much every day, especially when he was bullying and harassing outcasts. When Samuel disappeared and John died, Baltus saw that the town had no one to lead it. So he took advantage of the situation and stepped up to become more popular with the townsfolk and eventually, he was mayor of New Holland

-Much like the Westenra House, Loretta Thistlewing's old cottage still stands. After her death, no one went near it and the townspeople basically forgot about it. But the cottage sits in the woods at the very edge of the town, the structure and everything inside remaining untouched for centuries

-Loretta had a vast collection of books. Some about history, some about myths and legends and folklore, some about plants and animals of the earth, and so much more, including a few spell books... but there's one spell book she NEVER touched. It was large, bound in black leather, and had a large skull on the cover. She had it locked up in a wood and glass and kept it in the highest spot of her cottage where no one could reach it... Until Samuel broke into her cottage one night and stole it

-When Loretta cast her spell on Samuel and the town, she sent a spider to bite him and infect him with her curse
