Ep 76: The End

PoV: Sonic

Cream and Cheese moved back in with Vanilla in a small apartment. There wasn't enough room for me to stay there so Blaze had me stay in the palace with her. Shadow decided to head back home and get things ready for me to move in with him once I finished my very first mission with Princess Sally.

"Sonic," Blaze came into the room she lent me with a new suit, "I thought this one would suit you best."

"It really nice, I'll put it on now," I quickly got dressed and we left to have a conference with King Viola.

  Blaze and Sally had only been training me a few days, and if felt so nervous talking to the King. Memories of my escape with Cream and Cheese kept flashing in the back of my mind. The sound of the sirens and the vision of people dead from being shot. I felt my heart pound in my chest. The sound of my rapid pulse rang in my ears. I was snapped out of his when Blaze grabbed my hand.

"Sonic, are you okay?" Blaze fixed my quills and used a handkerchief to wipe the sweat off my face.

"I'll be okay. I just wish I had Shadow here is all, but his training is important," I took a deep breath. Shadow had messaged me good luck. I knew he'd start training after fixing up the house. I couldn't call him over because I had nerves. I took another deep breath as we reached the door, "Okay, let's do this."

  We opened the door and the conference room was massive. Just like the rest of the palace, every wall has intricate designs and the table looks insanely expensive. We took out seats with the King at one head of the table, and Sally at the other end.

"Your Majesty," Princess Sally set out a document for the butler to take to the King, "As you're aware, the Acorn Kingdom is working to untie the world and finally achieve peace. I believe we can achieve that by eliminating discrimination of all kinds. That includes the lgbtq+ community."

"I agree with you Princess," King Viola was so quick to agree. I was expecting this to be a difficult discussion with tension in the air. Instead, it turned out the King himself was planning to overturn several old laws after the recent police raid incident I was involved in, "I have been working on some new laws already. Ones that will punish discrimination throughout the kingdom. Sonic, correct?"

"Yes," I went stiff as he suddenly called my name when I hadn't said a word yet.

"No need to be so anxious, you've been pardoned in my kingdom," He chuckled, "I'm sorry you had to go through so much. I had a personal investigation done on you, it was the school's fault you were enrolled as female and given the incorrect uniform. You'll be properly compensated for the emotional distress and trauma damages, and reimbursed for any supplies you had to purchase. Sonic, you're an inspiration that woke up the entire kingdom. We've had protestors day and night, most of them your fellow students. It wasn't until your pardon and safe return was announced that they settled down."

"It was mostly my fault for not correcting the mistake," I bowed my head, "That day, everything was changing so suddenly, before I knew it I had decided to accept a new identity as a woman. Before I'd even realized, I had adjusted to it completely."

"Father, how come you didn't tell me about all these new laws and abolishing the old ones?" Blaze spoke up.

"I wanted it to be a surprise. I cannot forget the 1st night you brought Sonic into our home," He held Blaze's hand. I suddenly recalled the 1st time I came here with Blaze to learn how to bake cakes... "When I learned you were attracted to women, I knew I wouldn't have the heart to cause you harm. That realization lead helped me see the pain these unjustified laws have on families. Parents shouldn't have to abandon their children. And people should not have to wear a false identity simply to live. Princess Sally, I'm signing your treaty on the condition that when Blaze becomes Queen, you treat her as your Royal equal."
