Rayal looks back and forth between the two men, his confusion visible on his face. "How do you know each other?" he asks timidly, his voice barely above a whisper._______________________________________
Rayal's eyes narrow as he looks between the two men, the anger and confusion warring for dominance in his expression. "How do you know each other?" he repeats, his voice growing more strained with each word.
Atlas's grip on the gun tightens, his face twisting into a scowl. "That's none of your business," he mutters, his voice low and dangerous. But Rayal isn't backing down. "It is my business!" he snaps, his fists clenching at his sides. "You both know something that I don't, and I want to know what it is!"
Drake sighs, realizing that they can't keep this charade up any longer. He looks at Rayal with a mixture of regret and pity. "Fine," he says quietly. "We'll tell you everything."
He glances over at Atlas, waiting for his agreement. After a tense moment, Atlas nods reluctantly. "Alright," he growls. "But you're not gonna like it."Drake takes a deep breath, steeling himself for the conversation ahead. "Atlas and I used to work together," he begins. "We were part of a group that specialized in... well, let's just say we weren't exactly on the right side of the law."
Rayal's eyes widen in shock. "You were criminals?" he gasps, his mind struggling to process this revelation. His best friend from high school was a lawless person and this was all a secret to him till this moment .
Atlas bristles at the accusation, but he doesn't deny it. "I'm a businessman, not a criminal," he mutters, his tone laced with defensiveness.
Drake rolls his eyes, clearly not convinced. "Whatever you say, buddy," he quips, his voice double dipped with sarcasm.
Rayal's mind is still reeling from this shock. He had thought that he knew Drake well, but it turns out there was a whole other side to his best friend that he had never known. "But why didn't you tell me?" he asks, his voice growing faint with betrayal.
Drake looks at him, a mixture of guilt and regret on his face. "I wanted to keep you safe," he says softly. "Atlas and I, we're in a dangerous line of work. I didn't want you to get caught up in it and wind up getting hurt."
Rayal can sense the sincerity in Drake's voice, but it doesn't make him feel any better. "You should have told me," he says, his voice catching in his throat. "I could have helped you, or... or something. I didn't need to be sheltered from the world like a child."
"And yet here I am, in the middle of all this danger," Rayal mocks, gesturing wildly around the room. "I think you failed on that front, buddy."
Drake flinches at the accusation, knowing that Rayal is right but still feeling the sting of it. He opens his mouth to respond, but Atlas cuts him off.
Atlas clenches his fists, his expression hardening. "Enough of this nonsense," he snaps, a deep growl underlying his words. "We have bigger things to worry about than your bruised feelings."
Rayal flinches at the harshness of his tone, feeling the weight of the situation closing in around him. He has a million questions running through his mind, but before he can voice any of them, Rayal's voice pierce through the tension of the room.Atlas turns to Drake, his expression icy. "Go wait in the next room," he orders. "I have a few things to discuss with Rayal in private."
Drake hesitates for a moment, his eyes darting between the two men. He clearly doesn't want to leave Rayal alone with Atlas, especially after what he's just witnessed, but he knows better than to defy the other man's orders. After a tense moment, Drake finally nods, his expression guarded. "Fine," he mutters, turning on his heel and stalking out of the room. The door slams shut behind him, leaving Rayal alone with Atlas once again.
Rayal feels a pit forming in his stomach as the sound of the door closing echoes in the now-empty room. He turns back to Atlas, his body instinctively tensing in preparation for whatever may come next.
"Now," Atlas says, his voice low and chilling. "We can finally finish what we started."
As he takes a step towards Rayal, Rayal feels his heart racing in his chest. He knows that whatever is about to happen won't be pleasant.
Atlas's hand reaches out towards Rayal's bruised face, his touch surprisingly gentle despite the violence of their previous encounter. "Let's see how much damage I can do , shall we?"_______________________________________
