This could not be getting any worse

Rigel and I moment in the pool cut short by us hearing Salma calling out for us. We looked at each other and panicked. We stepped out of the pool and he immediately started putting his pants back on where Salma opened the door where we immediately froze.

"You need to take Rigel home immediately." Salma said as she closed the door behind her, I looked at her confused while Rigel finished putting on his clothes. "Your parents are coming home early from their trip and they can be here any moment." She explained.

"This doesn't have to do with Christian does it?" I asked, she hesitated but nodded. How annoying. Christian's family is a merger between my family business, they were added along cause the business was near bankruptcy and they have been tight ever since. I met Christian when I was six. He always made trouble and my parents hated him though they couldn't tell his parents anything cause without them the business would've fallen apart.

His parents never cared of his behavior because he was their golden child, he did have an older brother but Christian was exceptional in their eyes. He was top player for Lacrosse, and soccer. He was smart and his actions were always excused. Fernando and I were his only friends though, his ego was so high that nobody liked him. So we were a close group until he left when we were fourteen.

"Here are some clothes, Rigel." Salma said as she gave a bag pull of clothes, Rigel took the bag and mumbled a thank you. "You are welcome here anytime, Rigel. Now Lenora put your clothes back on and take him home." I did as told and put my clothes on while we all walked inside. Rigel and I put on our shoes and walked out the door. For a little while we walked in silence just looking straight forward.

"Thank you for letting me stay. And for the clothes." Rigel said, I look towards him while he still looked straight forward. "Sorry you couldn't stay longer.." I replied and we became silent after that again until we were closer towards the Milligan house I wanted to have one more conversation. "About the talent show. We can practice after school. It would be easier to lie to my parents." He nodded and we arrived at the Milligan's. We were walking up and I saw Nica who was looking down from a small balcony at us mainly focusing on Rigel.

"Wait here, I need to give the plant to you." He said as he knocked on the door, the door opened and we somehow saw Nica. She looked over at me with a slight glare and she had the plant Rigel and I are supposed to take care of. "I heard you two were gonna trade off on the weekends and so I brought it to you." She said as she held it over to me. I took the plant where Rigel walked in and Nica closed the door before I could say goodbye. Odd.

I turned around and just walked home, where I was then confronted with Salma who must have been awaiting my arrival. "Hurry up and go get ready, your parents are already setting everything up. They are already all in a pissy mood." I don't want to make them even in a more bad mood so I did as told and completely got ready where I was doing my makeup I saw a fucking mark below my jaw and on my collarbone. Damn you Rigel. I tried to cover it as much as I could but if anyone notices I could use the excuse of a curling iron.

I walked downstairs and I saw groups of people standing and talking among each other. Some turned over to me and a woman with a familiar face came towards me grabbing my face and kissing both sides of my cheeks. "Ah, Ciao il mio Tesoro. My treasure. How have you been, darling." She said which immediately made me recognize her. Christian's mother.

"Ciao, Arabella. I've been doing fine." I said as she let go of my face and wrapped her arm around her husband, Henry. He put out his hand for me to shake and I did where low and behold, Christian moved his parents out of the way to see me face to face with Fernando next to him. "Looks like our little group is back together. Isn't that fun." Let's just say that we didn't end on the best note.

"Now that we are all here why don't you kids go outside and be teenagers." My mother said, we did as told and we all went outside. Where Christian took a seat on the lounge chair and pulling out a pack of cigarettes? "Since when did you smoke." I asked, he took a puff and blew his smoke towards me. He used the cigarette to point over to Fernando. "I thought you stopped." Fernando looked at me and I felt awkward.

I haven't talked to Fernando since Garden day so talking to him just made me feel more awkward, Christian laughed. "Since when did you quit, I mean when you came to America you were a whole another person." Fernando crossed his arms ashamed. "I did quit when Nora and I were..." He went silent, we all knew what he was saying. Even though he wasn't able to.

And for all honesty truth, I might have not said it but I do miss Fernando. The way he made me laugh, how all the time he would get me flowers and even for the talent show. We would have the best time together. It made me feel guilty that I was doing it with Rigel and not him. The one thing I didn't was his out of control outbursts, I do know that he has been taking his therapy more seriously though now that we broke up.

"Enough of the sad awkward bullshit, why don't we leave and do something fun."
