Ciri POV
I wake up in a slight daze. Did last night really happen?
I look around in near disbelief. The Room of Requirement is just as amazing as I remembered it, and it has outdone itself in preparing our rooms. Ominis and I both have large bedrooms with private washrooms connected to them. I pull my clothes out of my enchanted knapsack and prepare to get ready for the day.
I slide into a pair of sleek black and white pinstripe trousers, pulling on a maroon blouse, black corset, and pale blue and black top. Peering at my limited selection of shoes, I decide that my tall black boots will probably be the most comfortable for walking around the school. Merlin knows, I haven't had to deal with so many stairs in a long time. I finally pin my hair up into a bun, leaving a few strands hanging loosely in my face. Sticking my entire arm into my knapsack, I manage to find some of my powder and other makeup.
After getting ready, I smile to myself in the mirror, feeling more confident in my usual look. I'm also incredibly grateful that I'm no longer subject to wearing a Hogwarts uniform, though I am definitely not anticipating the many stares that Ominis and I will certainly get from the students and staff.
I leave my room and find Ominis sitting on one of the sofas in the main living area, reading a book with his wand in hand. He hears my footsteps long before I approach him and snaps the book shut.
"Good morning. Are you ready to go to breakfast?"
I sigh, slightly annoyed at the thought of being the center of attention in the Great Hall for the second time in my life.
"Ready as I'll ever be. Let's go."
We exit the Room of Requirement and thankfully, there are no students nearby for us to startle with our sudden appearances out of the wall.
To my dismay, the Floo station near the Room is shut down for repairs. "Great! Now we have to walk the whole bloody way," I complain.
Omnis grins and takes me by the elbow, "Come on, it'll be fun. We can reminisce about the days of our youth along the way."
As Ominis and I share lighthearted memories, I'm overcome with feelings of nostalgia and comfort as we pass through the familiar halls. Time is a very strange thing. What feels like yesterday, happened almost a decade ago. Most people look back on their youth as a time of simplicity. To be quite honest, the simplicity for me came as an adult. Sure, the line of work that I do can be interesting and downright dangerous. But I'm not as vulnerable as I once was. Not as scared, not as naive.
Ominis and I pass by several students as we make our way down. I had honestly forgotten how long it takes to make the trek from the Room of Requirement to the Great Hall. As we walk, the whispers in the corridors continue to grow.
"Who are they?"
"They can't be students, they look too old and they're not wearing uniforms."
"She's so pretty."
"Maybe they're new professors?"
"Why is he using his wand to walk around?"
I hear Ominis chuckle beside me. After what seems like the walk of eternity, we finally make it to the Great Hall. I turn to Ominis. "Well, here goes nothing."
We open the doors and I'm instantly flooded with happiness at the sight and smells of breakfast. One of the biggest things I missed about Hogwarts was its elaborate meals.
As the doors open, Professor Weasley looks up and motions us to the professors' table at the front of the hall. The chatter quickly dissipates as we walk down the main aisle, with almost every student in the room looking at us.
