"For he's a jolly goo' fellow! For his a jolly goo' felllooooowwwww!!!" the group sang joyfully.
Half empty pizza boxes, beer cans and bottles, giant Bluetooth speaker, dimmed lights...all perfect for a night of celebration! The opened space featured a comfortable living room furniture set, a beautiful dinning table and a coffee bar in a corner, leading to a path towards the sliding doors and a spacious balcony. The curtains on top of them were pulled opened, revealing a cozy porch, complete with a wooden bench and two reclining chairs. Chris' cousins enjoyed the view, while several guests chatted quietly near the dinning room, and the officers sang along in the living room, wrapping their arms around each one's shoulders and rocking slowly from side to side.
"For he's a jolly goo' fellow! For his a jolly goo' felllooooowwwww...and now we'll call 'im sarge!!! HAHAHAHA" the group sang before busting into laughter, making a toast and downing their drinks. "Here's to Sergeant Jim Street!"
CLINK CLINK CLINK
The apartment wasn't packed to capacity, but more than a dozen people shared the common areas, as the couple celebrated a huge cornerstone in the young officer's career. Guests included friends and family, and others close to the honoree. The surprise had been a complete success, since the newly appointed and formally instituted Squad leader at LBPD wasn't expecting anything at all. His eyes had lit up with excitement when he opened the door and turned on the lights to a living room filled with his old squad and closed friends.
The menu had been simple, but fitting. Only his favorite pizza toppings were ordered, and his favorite brand of beer. Some of the guests also brought food and drinks, but mostly it was all about the new sergeant's favorites.
On the dinning room table there were still pizza boxes, plastic cutlery, some left over spicy and ranch wings, empty beer cans and one homemade cake. On the small rounded delicacy, brought by Deacon, the words CONGRATS, NEW SERGEANT were written in bright blue letters, over a black background. On top stood a small candle in the form of a motorcycle, surrounded by small clouds of dust drawn in the middle of the top cover.
The music sounded lightly, as smiles, laughter and the chilly LA night breeze were more than enough to fill the air. Tan and Cabrera were talking series, while Powell and Chris shared some words and Luca continued to joke with Street. Deacon and Hondo shared dad stories, while Chris' uncle told stories of his upbringings in his home country with a few of the house's volunteers and her cousins. Everyone was enjoying the night, as even the temperature and weather couldn't be more perfect!
"Tan, Tan!" Street called, pulling on his sleeve.
The officer turned to him with a smile, after finishing his last review. He waved at Cabrera, who was captivated by something in the view from the balcony and pulled away slowly. Tan turned to Street and took a long sip of beer.
"What's up?"
Street looked all ways, seeming a bit nervous. He returned his stare to him and smile. "Now?"
Tan frowned and froze, completely caught off guard. Now what? What was he talking about?
"Uh...now?" he stuttered confused.
