Shannon's POV.

After directing Niall to my house, we sat in the front seats of his Mustang, driving silently to my destination. Niall must've felt the tension thickening the air between us, awkward and noiseless, so he started small talk.

"So Shannon," he asked. "Tell me about yourself."

"Well, I am a junior in high school. I also have a job at Fashion Express at the mall." I paused then continued in a small fast voice "Also my dad... died...when I was little." That last part made my eyes water. It was so hard for me and my mom to lose my dad. It broke us. It broke us really bad; torn into little pieces.

"I'm so sorry. Oh, don't cry. Don't cry. Please." Niall said, with concerned shining in his eyes, glancing away from the road, his hands tightly gripping the steering wheel, to wipe a tear from my eye. "You know, my parents abandoned me when I was sixteen. From then on I've had to live on my own." He said his eyes peeking over to me, eyes off the darkened road, to see the expression on my face, not staring in a hurtful way but a...caring, loving way.

"Oh my gosh....I'm so sorry." I replied tearing up even more. It's always awesome when you cry in front of a stranger.

"It's okay, Shannon, I'm used to being alone." He uttered that phrase with such fluency, I could tell he'd said it before. Now, he looked like he was the one about to cry. Niall once again wiped yet another tear away and handed me a tissue out of the glove box, leaning over my legs to open the compartment, causing me to blush quietly in the dark car.

The rest of the ride was silent and I was longing to get my house. Finally we arrived and Niall parked in the driveway.

"Goodbye beautiful." Niall said with that crooked smirk that I liked while I got out of the car, my dress almost flying up with me. Wanting to make sure Niall didn't see my thighs, I quickly pushed my dress down smiling in embarrassment.

"Thanks." I said shyly with my eyes finding interest on my turquoise heels. They almost looked like they could be Cinderella's shoes... Straight out of a fairy tale.

"Keep your head up, Shannon." Niall's solemn voice broke the tensed air. I shivered again, my hair dripping cold water down my back. "Your face is beautiful and you should let it show."

"Thanks, Niall. For everything."

"No problem. It was my pleasure, beautiful." Right then I leaned in the open car door and pulled him in, by his t-shirt (hehehe), for a small goodnight kiss on the cheek. His skin was so smooth... My lips felt no imperfections. I wanted more but my womanly instincts (call it intuition) were telling me to hold back.

"Goodnight, Niall." Blushing I ran into my house only looking back once before I slid into the doorway. He looked stunned with that small smirk on his face. I immediately went to my room and crashed on my bed. What the hell just happened? Did I actually like Niall? No, I just met him. These questions rolled around in my brain until I finally dozed off dreaming about that kiss. Do I like Niall Horan?

Straight out of a fairy tale, alright.

Niall's POV

"Wow!" I mumble under my breath feeling the warm spot on my cheek, that stupid grin still on my face.

I put my car in reverse, prepared to drive home when I see a small piece of paper sitting on the front passenger seat. I quickly open the paper.....it was a number. Her number.

I saved "Shannon" to my contacts and sat back in my seat taking in what just happend:

1. I saved a beautiful girl at a high school party.

And

2. Took her home to find she'd given me her number.

I smiled, "I'm finally doing something good in my life."
