CHAPTER SEVEN

THE RAIN CAME UNEXPECTEDLY, its arrival announced by the low grumble of thunder in the distance. dark clouds gathered in the sky, casting a gloomy shadow over the landscape, while the smell of rain hung heavy in the air. you found yourself seeking shelter beneath the sheltering branches of a nearby tree, the raindrops falling relentlessly around you. the sudden rain caught you off guard, and you hugged your knees close to your chest, seeking solace in the comforting embrace of your own arms.

despite the loud drumming of rain on the leaves above, your mind was consumed by a storm of its own making. thoughts raced through your head, each one heavier than the last, weighing down your heart with a burden you could bear. it felt as though the world around you had faded into a distant blur, leaving only the noise of your own emotions raging within.

amidst the storm, a familiar voice cut through the chaos, drawing your attention upward. through droopy eyes blurred by rain, you caught sight of him – ran, standing before you, a small smile playing at his lips despite the weariness etched into his features. his once whimsical demeanor now subdued, his amethyst eyes devoid of their usual brightness.

"i have been finding you," a familiar voice breaks through the noise, pulling you out of your thoughts. you look up, eyes heavy with sorrow, to see the person you have been yearning to see. your eyes, filled with emptiness and sadness, meet his amethyst gaze. in that moment, the burden on your heart seems to lighten, if only a little. his presence, despite everything, brings a small comfort.

you take in his appearance. his usually neat blonde hair is now a bit longer and slightly messy. he always kept it perfectly in place, but now it seems as if he's stopped caring. his whimsical demeanor that made him inscrutable to anyone is gone, as are the playful smirks that usually plastered on his lips. his expression is hard to read, emotionless, his bright purple eyes dull and devoid of their usual sparkle. yet, the way he looks at you is gentle, a stark contrast to the emptiness you see in his eyes.

"you shouldn't be here..." you murmur, shaking your head. he only gives you a small smile in response. despite the umbrella he's holding, he's a little bit soaked, as if he hasn't bothered using it properly.

"it's raining and you have the umbrella, why are you still soaked in rain?" you ask, noting the pink hoodie he's wearing, matching yours. he closes the umbrella and sits beside you, close enough that you can feel his presence offering some solace against the storm.

"this umbrella is for you." he responds, "i only bring it so i could shade you from the rain when i walk you home." he then closes the umbrella and sits down beside you, close enough that you can feel his warmth despite the chill in the air.
