The greeting...
Serena took her time for a few moments, perhaps to think about what to say and how to say it, so finally went to talk to the girl who greeted her:
—Hi, what's your name? —Serena told her the "usual introduction", but she didn't know what to say after that and simply limited herself to looking her in the eyes; then that girl whispered something to her sister and Serena could see that both of them were staring at her.
«Okay, now what do I say?» Serena thought; then those same girl, a blonde teenager with short hair and an orange sweater with a heart embroidery, but on the left side, introduced herself.
—Hey, hi again! You're... Serena, right? —she replied, touching her green beanie, Serena was going to answer yes until she continued—. I'm Maddison Valentina Clover-Vicencio, but you can just call me Val, and she's my twin sister, Abigail Isabela —said pointing to the girl by her side—. Nice to meet you! —she moved away from her sister's seat and approached Serena to extend her hand.
—Nice to meet you, nice to meet you! —Serena replied, influenced by the contagious enthusiasm of her new classmate.
—But why did I say that?! —and that enthusiasm disappeared as quickly as it came. Not knowing what else to say, she just limited herself to greeting Maddison Valentina with a brief handshake and showing her best smile while maintaining eye contact, but making that gesture always confused her; the twin sister was observing everything, but she also decided to greet.
—Hello, nice to meet you Serena —the other girl introduced herself with a timid smile—. I'm... Abigail Isabela, ¡a-although of course! My sister had already told you that —she didn't get up and just waved her hand slowly while looking away; Serena waved her back, just to cheer her up a bit, but after a few seconds she noticed a kind of look in the twins' eyes.
«Why are they looking at me like that?» Serena didn't understand why they looked strange, until she realized...
«Oh no, not again...!» she put her hands on the desk and tried to distract them.
—Oh, that's nothing! Anyway, what's school like? —she asked later, with a forced smile.
The twins looked at each other for a few seconds and simply shrugged their shoulders in response.
—Well, I don't know —Maddison Valentina answered—. As long as it's not a mess like Saint Beverly... —muttered quietly, between her teeth, crossed her arms and her brow was furrowed.
Serena seemed to take those words and, above all, the expression of the girl too seriously; now she just stared at them, without saying anything, while still forcing her smile... She could even swear she was sweating.
«I've ruined everything, doesn't it?!» she began to fear the worst, she really wanted to make friends, but now she was sure that those girls would mock her believing she was a "weird kid", Serena knew that wasn't true, but the rest didn't...
Now Serena wanted to say something, anything, but what could she say to them? She began to scratch the sleeves of her sweatshirt, her feet tapped the floor and she was still sweating. Meanwhile, the two sisters looked at each other with concern.
—Uuuhh, a-are you okay? —the one in the blue sweater, Abigail Isabela, asked her, but she looked hunched and with one hand rubbing one of her shoulders.
—Hey, you've been like that for a while, did I say something that bothered you? —Maddison Valentina spoke to her, raising an eyebrow with a confused glaze.
Actually, Serena wasn't feeling well: her fingers were touching the desk, the look in her eyes was directed somewhere else in order to hide her embarrassment, but she knew she had to answer them or things might get worse, so she took a breath and was about to speak...

It seems that Serena is very nervous (you're welcome to state the OBVIOUS), you could even say that she started off on the wrong foot, but we'll see if things go well.

Another surprise chapter! I guess you were so inspired and in such a good mood that I decided to do a two for one, you're welcome! 😉
Annnnd, one more cliffhanger (this is getting tiring, isn't it? For me too!), how many are we on? Nah, who cares.
Anyway, I hope you liked this chapter. If you want, you can vote, comment, save to your library or do nothing, that's up to you. Bye!
