The hums of machines wake me up as I try to get up, but struggle due to being tied down to the table. What the fuck, I think to myself as I look around to take in my surroundings. Bright, warm lights glare down at me as they reveal medical equipment surrounding me, and another bed next to me, with Yelena lying down on it.
"Yelena?" I look over to her as she darts her head towards me at the sound of my voice.
"Kat, you're okay," she says in relief. "Y'know, this is much less cool way to die," she says in disappointment, as doctors turn on saws to cut our heads open.
Yelena lies there motionless, staring up at the ceiling.
"Yelena, it's me, it's Mama. You have a two-inch blade concealed in your beltline." Melina talks to Yelena on comms.
"What?" Yelena says, grabbing the attention of the doctors. I whip my head to look at her sudden speech.
She looks around, noticing a doctor walking towards her with a needle in his hand. "What, what are you going to do to me?"
She receives no response from the doctors, but Melina talks to Yelena again. "Outside right hip."
Yelena reaches her hand down to her hip, holding on to a knife, before cutting the straps off of her that was keeping her down and using the blade to attack the doctors and surgeons.
She rushes over to me and cuts the straps off of me, helping me up.
"Thanks Lena."
She grabs her jacket and throws it on as we walk out of the room.
"You couldn't have told me sooner?" Yelena asks Melina through the comms.
"Don't throw a fit, there wasn't time," Melina responds to Yelena.
I grab a wet wipe as we leave, rubbing off the pen from my forehead, before giving it to Yelena to rub off her markings too.
"Where did he take the vials?" Yelena asks.
"Probably down to cold storage. Dreykov still has the widows under his control, so you'll have to expose them to this antidote." Melina says.
"Yeah. Sure. Easy."
We make our way down a couple halls until we hear footsteps of guards nearby.
"Shit. Where do we go?" I ask.
"Up here," Yelena points to a vent. "We'll crawl through until we get outside of the cold storage room."
I boost Yelena up, helping her crawl into the vent.
"Grab my hand." She says, holding her hand out for me to crawl into the vent with her.
Grabbing her hand, I boost myself up, and climb into the vent. "It's a little claustrophobic up here, don't you think?"
We crawl through the vents until we arrive outside of the storage room, waiting for the guards to leave.
Yelena opens up the vent and jumps down to the floor, landing in a superhero position.
"Ew that was disgusting," Yelena says, getting up in an annoyed and repulsive way.
"Your hero pose is good, Yelena," I whisper with a smirk on my face. Yelena turns around and gives me a black look. "Okay sorry, sorry."
I join her as I jump down from the vent, and quickly rushing to sneak across the wall.
"There's a guard round the corner, I'll take him out and we can use his handprint to let us in the the room." Yelena says. I nod and follow Yelena.
