nobody's POV

Chuuya was sitting on the sofa in the main area of the port mafias base, Dazai sitting beside him reading his book.

Chuuya was getting quite bored, and to be honest, he didn't know what to do. They had no missions, nothing planned today. They were basically off, but Mori refused to give them another day off. So they were essentially stuck in the port mafia base.

He had barely gotten any sleep last night, and was extremely tired. He wanted attention as well, but Dazai didn't seem like he wanted attention, so he didn't exactly know what to do.

He had thought about going back to bed, but he didn't really want to leave. He kind of wanted to stick with Dazai, though he hated to admit it. He wouldn't ever tell him that, either.

Dazai, however, was perfectly content with sitting here and doing nothing. He didn't really want to move, and was happy and calm sitting on the sofa reading.

He had also gone to sleep extremely late, as in he got no sleep at all. He didn't usually get much sleep, usually about 3-4 hours, but last night he hadn't gotten any. He was also extremely tired, and when he was tired, he was actually calmer, though he had less patience, and didn't feel like interacting with anyone.

In addition to being tired, he hadn't woken up, or should I say gotten out of bed, in a very good mood. Now, this had almost nothing to do with how much sleep he got. Dazai, like the odd human being he is, has almost a multi-personality. Usually a normal human being would be in a bad mood with little sleep, and a good mood with enough sleep. Dazai, however, could have no sleep at all, and be in a perfectly good mood, or have lots of sleep (basically none but that's not the point) and be in a terrible mood. It all depended on how his brain decided to feel.

Brain.

That's all it was.

Brain.

Not his heart. Not his physical state. Not his humanity.

His brain.

Cause that's all he was.

A smart but useless pile of brains. No personality, no emotions, no physical feelings.

Just brain. Nothing else.

Chuuya, however,

He was Dazais emotion, his heart, his feelings. He was everything. And although neither of them would ever accept it, that's how they felt.

Chuuya was Dazais humanity.
Dazai was Chuuyas humanity.

(Was...)

And that's how it would always be. (...)

No.

And Dazai knew it.

Anything he never wanted to lose was always lost. That's how its always been for him.

And that will never change.
