Taehyung always helps Jimin during his pre-heat and takes care of him until he inevitably has to go. But when his heat hits before expected, Taehyung finds himself waking up to his hips pressed to Jimin's ass, his rut itching right under his skin.

Taehyung hates seeing Jimin in pain. unfortunately, every few months, when his heat comes along, it's inevitable to see. The omega has it really hard on him. Cramps and mood swings and too much sweating, too much exhaustion, emotionally and physically. Taehyung helps the ways he can, but it honestly isn't enough. He only ever stays during his pre-heat, usually the worst moments of it all. When the actual heat hits, he's well gone and far away from him, letting him have the privacy that he needs.

It's just that Taehyung's nose is very sensitive, smells are so intense for him and Jimin smells too fucking good. He can only take so much before it gets to his head. So, they've only ever agreed to him staying for the pre-heat, when Jimin's scent is still sweet and gentle, nothing too spicy for Taehyung. Not that he doesn't like it, he's just worried that it could trigger something that shouldn't be triggered when being together.

He still remembers the first time they did this. Jimin's pre-heat had hit before expected and they were together, wrapped up in a blanket, wrapped around each other and watching a movie. Taehyung had smelled it and had sensed the shift in Jimin's behavior but seeing Jimin cry because of the cramps was enough to have him worrying about his best friend. Just knowing that Jimin had to go through that alone every few months made him feel so bad and he wanted nothing more than to make it better.

Jimin had said no and had asked him to leave but after a few hours away, Taehyung hadn't been able to stay like that and he'd come back, barged inside his house and told him he'd stay until before his heat hit, because he wasn't going to stand by while Jimin was suffering. They'd talked about it, Jimin had told him what he usually went through and thus began a new part of their friendship. Ever since, Taehyung helps Jimin out until the inevitable time to go comes.

Still, now that Jimin is curled in a ball in his nest, sweaty forehead and bangs getting in the way of his face, Taehyung wishes he could do more. He's read about heats like Jimin's, he's investigated and tried to understand how it is but there really isn't much more he can do. Jimin will have heats like this probably all his life.

"Taehyung-ah," Jimin whispers, a soft exhale leaving his lips.

Taehyung has already scented him so many times in hopes of making it better but Jimin isn't getting any better. Taehyung is pretty much sure he's about to start crying again, his pain has probably grown worse.

"I'm here," he whispers.

He's careful not to mess up Jimin's nest as he lays down next to him, reaching a hand out to push away the wet strands of hair that are over his face and waits for him to say what he needs or to start crying. either of those will be. he's never ready, even though it's not the first time, even though he tells himself that it's like this all the time, even though he's close to him. he feels powerless.

"It hurts," Jimin whispers.

His voice breaks by the end of it and tears spill down his cheeks. It makes Taehyung's insides turn to flames and his alpha claws at him, begs for him to make it better for the omega in need. Taehyung has a hard time pushing away that part of him whenever he's with Jimin during his pre-heat. They're best friends, they trust each other and take care of each other and Jimin trusts him to no end but Taehyung still always feels guilty about his instincts, about his thoughts, whenever his alpha takes a little too much control of him. He doesn't know if it's just his alpha or if it's the human part of him that wants Jimin, that likes him a bit too much, loves him, even. But it turns so hard to ignore when they're together like this, Jimin's pheromones all over the place and Taehyung's alpha desperate to take care.
