❛ mama's boys ❜
"Drakus Solarus, where have you been!"
To say Alicent was worried about her sons was an understatement. It had been hours since she had last seen her twins, and she had been worried sick since she had received word that her two darling boys had been whisked away by their uncle to God knows where on the back of that creature that she had grown to despise. And as the sun began to set slowly over King's landing, she stood gazing out of the window, rocking a crying Daeron, waiting for her children to return. And when they did, she spent ten minutes fussing over the two, checking every inch of them. Making sure they hadn't picked up any injuries on their little excursion with Daemon that needed to be brought to the attention of the Maester.
Once the Hightower Queen was reassured that they were fine, she sat them down on her bed, passing Daeron off to his wet nurse and asking to hear the tales of their adventure with their uncle. Listening intently as the twins retold the tale of how Daemon flew them to an island on Craxes where they saw The Cannible and The Shrike. Now, Alicent would be lying if she said she only asked her children about what they did because she wanted to know about their day, which she did. But she was also asked to make sure that the Rogue Prince didn't step out of line or do anything to harm her children. So she breathed a sigh of relief, hearing that the two were relatively okay in the care of their uncle.
"Mother, you should have seen them. They were this big!" Solarus exclaimed, stretching his arms out to show the scale of the dragon, to which Alicent laughed "Bigger than Vhagar?" she asked, knowing what the answer was but loved watching her boy's face scrunch as they yelled out protests against her statement. The mother and sons spent the rest of the evening sprawled out on the Queen's bed with Alicent, reading them stories about Old Valyria and Aegon the Conqueror. As the last drops of light trickled through the windows, Alicent called in the servants to bathe her two boys as they still reeked of dragon, to which they groaned and moaned in protest. "But mother, we want to spend more time with you", Drakus pleaded as he and Solarus put on their best puppy dog eyes, hoping to sway their mother.
"We will spend some time together after you bathe Drakus; I want both of my best boys to smell nice and clean. You want that, don't you?" Alicent asked with a knowing look, her words persuading the older twin. "Can't you bathe us, please?" Solarus asked, slightly upset that he was being handed off to servants who had a habit of rubbing his skin raw. Alicent sighed. "I must tend to your father while he bathes my darlings; I will only be a small while, and once I'm done, I'll get you both ready for bed, and we shall spend some more quality time together", the Hightower's words seemed to do the trick as their smiles returned as they threw themselves into their mothers embrace plastering kisses on her face which she gladly reciprocated before sending them with the servants to bathe. Now, alone in her room, Alicent sighed before departing to the king's chamber.
