The next time Kiara came around, Ishika decided it was time to confront her. She approached Kiara and said, "Can we talk privately for a moment?"
Kiara raised an eyebrow but followed Ishika to a quieter corner. "What's up?" Kiara asked, her tone casual but curious.
Ishika took a deep breath. "Look, Kiara, I need to be honest with you. I like Abhishek, and we're dating."
Kiara rolled her eyes. "Oh, please. Are you serious? That sounds like something out of a cheesy movie."
Ishika's expression remained firm. "I'm serious, Kiara. He means a lot to me, and I don't want any misunderstandings."
Kiara crossed her arms, skepticism etched on her face. "And why should I believe you?"
Ishika took a step closer, her voice steady. "Because it's the truth. And honestly, I think you should try hanging out with Shubman. He's a great guy, and he really likes you."
Kiara scoffed, "Shubman? Really? He's not my type."
Ishika sighed. "Just give him a chance. Who knows, you might actually like him once you get to know him."
Kiara hesitated, then finally gave a reluctant nod. "Fine, I'll give him a shot. But if this turns out to be some kind of joke, I won't be happy."
Ishika smiled softly. "It's not a joke. I promise. And thank you for giving Shubman a chance."
Kiara shrugged, a hint of a smile playing on her lips. "We'll see how it goes. But don't think this means I'm giving up on Abhishek easily."
Ishika watched as Kiara walked away, feeling a mix of relief and apprehension. She hoped this would be the start of a smoother journey for all of them, one where feelings were respected and true connections could form.
Ishika walked back to the practice field, spotting Abhishek taking a break near the sidelines. She approached him, her heart still racing from the confrontation with Kiara.
"Hey," Ishika said softly, catching his attention.
Abhishek looked up, concern immediately crossing his face. "Hey, you okay? You look a bit... tense."
Ishika took a deep breath, then nodded. "I just talked to Kiara."
Abhishek's eyes widened slightly. "You did? What happened?"
Ishika recounted the conversation, detailing how she had confessed their relationship to Kiara and suggested she give Shubman a chance. Abhishek listened intently, his expression a mix of surprise and admiration.
"Wow," Abhishek said when she finished. "That must have been tough. What did she say?"
Ishika shrugged. "She didn't believe me at first, but she finally agreed to give Shubman a chance. I think she was just shocked."
Abhishek smiled, a warm, appreciative smile. "Thank you for doing that, Ishika. It means a lot to me."
Ishika returned the smile, feeling a weight lift off her shoulders. "I just want things to be clear between us and everyone else. I don't want any more misunderstandings."
Abhishek nodded, taking her hand and giving it a gentle squeeze. "I appreciate that. And for what it's worth, I'm glad you're with me."
Ishika squeezed his hand back. "Me too. Now let's focus on the match against the US and show them what we've got."
Abhishek chuckled. "Absolutely. Let's do this."
As they walked back to join the rest of the team, Ishika felt a renewed sense of confidence and clarity. She knew there would still be challenges ahead, but with Abhishek by her side, she was ready to face them head-on.
