" GAH ! "

Sorbet quickly shot up out of bed only to find something off . . . then suddenly they fell out of bed onto a cold, wet floor. They quickly got up and looked around, they were on a ship, and instead of falling out of bed, they fell out of a hammock. They tried to whip the soda off of their face before realizing something was on it. Bandages, his cheek was bandaged up across his nose and ear. That wasn't the only thing that was different though, previous patches in his clothes were sown up as well, and something told him he wouldn't be alone for long.

There was only one thing left to do. Explore. Sorbet got up off the floorboards and started to try and stand, finding it still a little difficult with the pain from a few days ago, especially when it came to keeping their back straight. Still, they had to know where they were, and if the cookies holding him captive intended peaceful things or not. They took a deep breath and heaved their body towards the deck of the ship. When they reached the deck, however, the bright sun practically blinded their sight until they were met with many different cookies staring in their direction.

" So yer finally awake huh, little one ? " A cookie came forward, judging by their clothes they must have been important, as they were all fancy like with bits of gold around the edges of the fabric. They only had one hand and one leg, not to mention an eyepatch and a big hat, which was also laced with gold. " Welcome ta The Black Sugar. I be Rum Cake Cookie or jus Rum fer short, and ye seem ta have gotten yerself quite lost lad. We have a few questions fer ye so ye better get comfortable. "

Sorbet backed up and tried to hide in the shadows, nervously holding their arm. Who were these cookies ? Why did they bring them aboard this ship ? Where was he right now ? But most importantly, what were they going to do with him ? They tripped over a bucket and fell backward on their head. Sorbet quickly sat up and started to rub their head, looking back up at Rum with a scared expression.

" Calm down there lad, we won't hurt ye . . . yet. First, we wanna know what a youngin like yerself is doin stranded onna piece-a driftwood, an why ye were injured. " Rum stated, kneeling down in front of Sorbet who just tried to back up even more to keep space between them. They contemplated if they should speak or not, since it would probably only end in alarm, the only cookie that was ever able to understand them was Peppermint, and even then Peppermint had to use a shell to understand them for months.

Suddenly they remembered that Peppermint taught them sign and they might have a shot at that, so they took it. Of course, they had to have been taught how to read and write first, so that way they could learn to do sign on their own with books, so they thought it would be easier to ask for a pen and paper, especially since they didn't know fluent sign language. They started to sign, ' I need something to write with and paper '.

Rum looked at them with a confused expression before realizing they were using sign language, which they didn't understand. " Does anycookie 'ere know sign language ? "

" I do. " Another cookie stepped forward. They didn't seem all too fancy in turn, but still presented themselves more formally than the rest of the cookies on this crew. They had a pair of goggles and also had a matching pair of glasses. This cookie definitely seemed smart as they kneeled down in front of Sorbet as well, making Sorbet incredibly uneasy. They took a deep breath and signed the same thing again. " They want a quill and paper. "

" We're out of ink. " Another cookie stated, this time a young woman. They seemed genuinely lovely as their attire consisted of loose clothing decorated with flowers, they definitely had a very soft feel to them despite seeming very strong. This cookie may seem gentle, but they still casted a shadow of intimidation.
