I think the last time Mother and Father let me ride with them in the town car was... when I was little. I was allowed in the limo for family events.. As long as I kept quiet and stayed out of the way. It was the same as now. Sitting in the town car, looking out the window at the lights of the city as we got closer. Dressed like an imposter with the white and pale blue gown that shimmered and had tiny rhinestones along the top bodice area. It was not provocative, but form fitting. Though my arms were uncovered and the neckline dipped it wasn't too showy. The earrings, necklace, and hair piece were the showiest parts. The heels were not bad... I'd been trained to walk in them although it had been a long time since I wore heels like these... Mother insisted though.
The driver pulled up in front of a large building with lots of lights. The driver got out, and the valet opened the door for us. My Father got out first, offering his hand of course to my mother. I slid over and my father surprisingly held his hand out for me. I noticed a lot of other people going into this place and knew instantly that my parents would actually be acknowledging me as their daughter tonight. It also meant they'd embellish as they liked to call it on the details of our happy family.
The driver drove off and my father escorted both my mother and I into the building. Everyone was dressed nicely. I thankfully didn't feel underdressed... but it was a bit awkward as people looked at me. Most likely trying to figure out who the hell I was.... I certainly wasn't my sister, the Princess... or so she liked to think of herself as. I must be the daughter they don't talk much about... or I'm some other family member. Maybe a third cousin.
I tried to keep my breath steady... tonight was surely going to test my ability to be around people.
The entrance to this restaurant was the most gaudy I think I've ever seen... gold everything, royal reds and a smaller orchestra playing live music for everyone to enjoy. I didn't hear anything my parents said, until they started moving again.
"May I assist you?" A man in a very clean red and gold suit asked.
"Yes, we're with the Min's." My father said, speaking clearly and a little louder than he normally would. I wanted to roll my eyes.
"Ah, yes, right this way." The man scurried along ahead of my father and mother. I look to the back of them. I hated crowds, you'd think they'd understand that after all this time... they either didn't care enough, or ignored it because they loved being with people.. Especially people who were higher up on the social scale then themselves. The Min's... oh they were quite high above my parents.. If the Min's were the sun, my parents would be the former planet pluto... just out here begging to feel the sun's warm rays.
We were led to an area of the restaurant that was clearly reserved for the rich and powerful. And at a circular table by one of the largest windows that had a very pretty view of the city and river.... Well there they were.
"Here you are." The man said as he showed us to the table.
"Thank you." My Father replied as the Min's stood to greet us.
"Russtle, Anna. It's been too long." Mr. Min spoke first. Shaking my father's hand. He didn't look old, the wrinkles along his forehead and at the corners of his eyes gave the impression he might be older than he looks. His hair was dark, short. His face is clean shaven and his suit.... Expensive. VERY expensive. The tiny woman beside him looked to be not a day older than 35 and her hair was tied up neatly in a bun with a pretty hair piece that dangled. She was dressed in Chanel, I could tell, my sister had recently asked for the exact dress this woman was wearing.
"Sang-Ook, how are you?" My father greeted him and my mother smiled sweetly.
"Doing well, did you see the Johnson boy last weekend at the club? Boy's got a talent for Golf." Mr. Min spoke.
"Oh, where are my manners? You remember my wife, Ae-Cha." Mr. Min introduced Mrs. Min..
"Of course, of course." My father replied, greeting the woman.
