"you did it." Finnick spoke in pure relief, "you actually did it."

"i listened to your advice. don't go to the middle instantly.. trees make good shelter."

he laughed in disbelief and hugged her again. "i'm sorry to tell you that it's not over."

as if it was his cue, Flavius walked in. "another district 4 Victor! excellent! okay, first, you'll be polished again, you'll desperately need it after spending 3 days in the woods. then Atala will give you your dress, and you'll come do an interview with Caesar."

she nodded, taking it in.

"when can i see Dylan?"

Finnick frowned at her softly. "when you get home, i'm sorry, kid."

----------

"how did you feel when you heard the district 11 two talking about hunting you down." Caesar spoke.

Atala had put her in a pure white dress, to try keep this innocent, purity look that she'd been so desperate for before the games.

"i felt like i needed to stop them.. in all honesty Caesar, i realised that if i didn't kill them, they would kill me." the crowd awe at her, the idea of her death not what they want to picture.

she really had the Capitol eating out of her hands.

"so you were scared?"

"terrified. but my brother always told me, fear makes you stronger."

"is that what allowed you to overcome both Willow and Ajax? on paper, in the situation you were in, they both should've killed you."

she thought before she spoke, her voice as soft as ever. "Willow? no, i wasn't scared, i knew i could make that shot. Ajax? definitely. i couldn't breathe when i eventually grabbed for the knife on my belt. a couple more seconds, and i think he'd have ended my life."

"well, i can certainly say we're all very happy he didn't. you certainly did capture everybody's hearts. seeing you sleeping in the trees. the clip, right before you ran to the middle for the final, what were you thinking." the clip replayed behind her.

she was going to die.

her knees raised to her chest as she hugged them tightly, soft tears running down her cheeks as she tried to stay as silent as possible.

she was going to die.

"i didn't know who was still alive, and that honestly scared me. i knew i didn't have a chance against all three careers if they were still allied until i died."
