"Please, please come back home, and I swear I'll explain everything to you," Dominic pleaded.

"No, I'm not going anywhere, and that wasn't my home, Dominic. I'll never set foot in that house again," I retorted firmly.

"What do you mean?" he asked, confusion evident in his voice.

"I want a divorce, Dominic," I declared.

Suddenly, his expression changed, and he quickly stepped closer, pulling me harshly against his chest.

"I told you divorce wasn't an option in my family, Victoria," he said with a firm jaw.

"I don't care about you, Dominic. I'll talk to Uncle Martin and Aunt Isabel about the divorce. I'll convince them that this whole marriage thing was nothing but a mistake," I replied, determined.

"NOT POSSIBLE. I'M NOT GIVING YOU A DIVORCE," he declared forcefully. "Our marriage wasn't a mistake. Do you understand that? I'll never let you go. You are mine, in this life, in other lives, and in every life I get."

Pushing him away after a struggle, I faced him squarely. "I want a divorce, Dominic, and I'll get a divorce."

"And I'm not giving you any divorce. I'll fight tooth and nail for our marriage, for us," he countered.

"Us?" I smiled bitterly. "There was no us from the very beginning, Dominic. I was too stupid to even accept your marriage proposal that night. After the incident at the gala, I should have realized that you never cared about me. Not even after the gala. There have been too many incidents where you've broken my heart, and you don't even know about it."

Suddenly, his expression changed again, and this time, he cornered me against the wall, his gaze intense. "The gala incident was taken care of. I sent that möthèrfücker to hell with my own hands."

My eyes widened in surprise. "You knew about that night?" I asked, Fresh tears welled in my eyes and started falling down my cheeks. This time, I didn't even try to stop them. "You knew about that night, and still, you didn't even apologize for it."

"I didn't apologize, but that doesn't mean I wasn't guilty. That's the whole reason why I let that doctor date you," Dominic confessed.

"What do you mean?" I asked, horrified.

Still caging me, he took a strand of my hair and smelled it. "Why do you think no one in the school and college dared to date you, Victoria?"

Realization dawned on me. Yes, a lot of boys had shown interest in me when I was in school and college, and some even proposed to me. But the next day, I never saw them again in class. I hadn't paid much attention back then, but now, as he mentioned it, I realized who was behind all of these disappearances.

"What... what did you do to them?" I asked, my voice trembling with fear and anger.

"Nothing special, just a good beating did the job for me," he shrugged, as if he were telling me about the weather.

My blood ran cold as his words sank in. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Dominic, the man I thought I knew, had been behind all those mysterious disappearances and injuries. The pieces of the puzzle were finally falling into place, revealing a dark and sinister truth about the man I had once loved.

"How could you?" I whispered, my voice barely audible.

"It was necessary to protect what's mine," he replied coldly, his eyes devoid of any remorse.

"Protect? Those were innocent people, Dominic! You had no right to hurt them," I exclaimed, my voice rising with anger and disbelief.

"They were interfering with what belongs to me. I couldn't let anyone come between us," he said, his tone unapologetic.

I recoiled in horror, realizing the depth of his possessiveness to me. The man I had once loved was now a stranger, consumed by his own twisted desires.

"I want nothing to do with you, Dominic. I'm leaving this marriage." I pushed past him and opened the door for him.

"Leave, Dominic."

"I'm not going anywhere, Victoria," he said, his voice low and menacing but as he realised what he was doing he closed his eyes and took a few deep breaths to calm himself "please Cara..." he began and grabbed my hand, I tried to wrench my hand free, but his hold only tightened.

"Let me go, Dominic," I demanded, my voice tinged with anger.

But he didn't budge, his eyes locking onto mine with a dangerous intensity.

"You belong to me, Victoria. You're mine, and I won't let you leave," he growled, his grip on my hand tight.

Desperation welled up inside me as I struggled against his hold, "please you have done enough damage, please leave me alone."

In that moment, he finally understand what he was doing. With a muttered curse, he gently lifted my hands to his lips, tenderly kissing them. "I'm sorry," he whispered, his voice heavy with regret. "I didn't mean to..."

"Please, just leave," I pleaded, my voice trembling with emotion.

He sighed heavily, his hand coming to rest against my cheek, his touch both comforting and burdensome. "I'll give you space to clear your mind, Victoria," he said softly. "But leave any thought of leaving me behind. I won't grant you a divorce. You can fight me, be angry with me, or even hate me if you wish. I know I deserve all of it, but I won't let you go. You are mine."

With that, he left me to my thoughts. A few minutes later, As the sound of his car engine faded into the distance, I collapsed onto the floor, and a sob escaped from my lips.

I feel trapped, for the first time I felt his presence burdensome and I realise I had to get as far away from him as possible.
