A week had passed since I first reunited with my son. Asher was a ball of happiness, a constant source of joy that filled the empty spaces in my heart. But as the days ticked by, the time period I had silently given my wife to make her decision was quickly coming to an end, and with it, my anxiety was reaching its peak.

Why was I so anxious? Because I knew how stubborn Victoria could be. I had no idea what her decision would be, and the thought of losing her and Asher again gnawed at me like a relentless ache. I couldn’t afford to let her slip away, not after everything we’d been through, but I also knew that pushing her too hard could backfire.

I was deep in these thoughts when my phone rang, pulling me back to the present. It was Simon.

“Sir, I found something,” Simon said.

“What is it?” I asked, leaning forward on my chair

“You ordered me to trace Miss Eva’s number,” he reminded me.

“Yes, and?”

“Sir, she’s been in continuous contact with your secretary, Mike,” Simon revealed.

The news didn’t come as a complete shock. I had a rough idea that something wasn’t right, but now I was a hundred percent certain of who was pulling the strings in the background, making my life a living hell. I fucking knew it.

My grip tightened on the phone, a surge of anger boiling inside me. “I see,” I said through gritted teeth.

Without another word, I ended the call and immediately summoned Mike to my office. There was no time to waste, and I needed answers—now.

As I waited, my mind raced through the possibilities. Mike had been with me for years, someone I had trusted, someone I never expected to betray me. But the pieces were starting to fall into place, and the picture they were forming was one of betrayal.

When Mike finally entered my office, I could see the unease in his eyes. He knew something was wrong, but he didn’t yet know the extent of what I had discovered.

“Sir, you wanted to see me?” Mike asked, his voice carefully neutral.

I didn’t waste any time. “Sit down, Mike,” I ordered, my tone leaving no room for argument.

He complied, sitting across from me, his posture tense.

I leaned back in my chair, studying him for a moment before speaking. “I’ve recently learned that you’ve been in contact with Eva. Care to explain why?”

Mike’s eyes widened slightly, but he quickly tried to mask his surprise. “Sir, I—”

“Don’t lie to me, Mike,” I cut him off, my voice cold and sharp. “I have the proof. I want to know why and what the hell you’ve been doing behind my back.”

Mike’s composure faltered, and I could see the fear creeping into his expression. He knew he was cornered, and there was no easy way out of this.

“I’m sorry, sir,” he finally said, his voice trembling. “I didn’t mean for things to get this far. She… she blackmailed me. Threatened to ruin my career, my life, my only family."

I narrowed my eyes, not entirely convinced. “And what exactly did you cooperate with, Mike? What have you done?”

He swallowed hard, sweat forming on his brow. “She...She wanted you."

My anger flared, but I forced myself to stay calm. "how?"

"At...at Evey coast sir."

"What exactly have you done, Mike?"

"I... I..." He stuttered, swallowing hard. "She asked me to gather all the information about your affairs before marriage and the CCTV records of your private room."

His eyes dropped to the floor. I clenched my fists, the urge to punch him almost unbearable, but I restrained myself. "You're fired, Mike. Get the hell out of my sight before I lose control."

"Sir... please..." he began, but I raised my hand, cutting him off.

"Fuck off, Mike. You don't deserve to work here. But I'm not heartless, which is why I'm not issuing a suspension order to the corporate. I know you have a sick brother."

Mike's face paled, his lips trembling as he stepped back. His shoulders slumped, and for a moment, I thought he might break down right there. But instead, he gave a weak nod, "I'll... I'll pack my things," he muttered, before turning on his heel and walked out.
