The gym was busy with the sound of weights and players going through their sets. It was conditioning day, and the UConn women's basketball team was deep in their strength training session. Selah wasn't needed yet, so she was off doing her own thing at home.
Meanwhile, the team was working hard, getting ready for the season. In the weight room, KK, Paige, and Azzi were taking turns spotting each other, talking about the upcoming season and the games they were excited about.
"I can't wait for y'all to really get to know Selah," KK said, adjusting the weights on her bar. "She's gonna fit right in. Y'all will like her a lot."
Paige and Azzi nodded. "Yeah, she seems really chill," Paige said, grabbing a towel to wipe the sweat off her face. Azzi grinned, recalling what she had seen on her for you page earlier that morning. "Saw those clips of you and Selah on live last night."
Paige shrugged, trying to play it cool. "I just happened to come across her live and followed her. The chat was asking me to join, so I did."
Azzi wasn't buying it. "Uh-huh. Are you sure you just came across it, or did you search her up?" She smirked. Paige felt her face getting hot. "I didn't search her up," she lied.
Truth was, she had searched for Selah's profile out of curiosity. But she didn't feel like admitting that.She was unsure about why she was lying because it was normal for her to be curious about someone who essentially was going to be with them every practice and every game.
But some part of her felt like she had to be secretive about it. Paige definitely knew that she found Selah attractive but she just met her and she doesn't even know if she's into women.
Azzi smirked. "It's okay if you have a little crush on her, Paigey. The fan edits were going crazy on my For You page. The way you were looking at her." Paige rolled her eyes but couldn't help but smile. "Whatever, Azzi. I just met her."
KK, who'd been quietly listening, finally spoke up. "Girl boo, Selah don't even like girls like that, for real." For some reason, Paige's heart sank a little hearing that. She didn't get why she cared so much. She shook her head, trying to clear her thoughts.
The girls started wrapping up their workout, putting away the weights and wiping down the benches. They were excited about the dinner, looking forward to chilling and getting to know Selah better.
"Let's bounce," KK said, grabbing her water bottle. "I'm starving, and we gotta get ready for dinner."
As they walked out of the gym, Paige couldn't stop thinking about Selah. She was definitely curious about her. The dinner would be a good chance to see what was up, and she was looking forward to it.
With that, the girls headed to the locker room, ready to shower and change for the team dinner.
