"You're the only one who can boil my blood."
Raven's POV
Raven pushed open the front door of her apartment, the hinges creaking in a familiar symphony that announced her arrival. The cozy living room greeted her, with its eclectic mix of thrift store finds and sentimental mementos, the sort of space that felt both lived-in and welcoming. She shrugged off her medical bag, letting it thud against the floor, and sighed deeply. It had been a long, mortifying day.
As she stepped further inside, Raven caught sight of her three roommates lounging on the mismatched furniture. Olivia was sprawled across the old floral couch, her dark hair cascading over the armrest as she skimmed through a thick textbook. Jasmine sat cross-legged on the floor, a mountain of colored pencils and sketches surrounding her like a chaotic artist's nest. Ivy, ever the epitome of composure, was perched in an armchair, a cup of herbal tea steaming gently in her hands.
"Hey, Raven!" Olivia called out, barely glancing up from her book. "How was your first day?"
Raven groaned in response, dragging herself to the couch and collapsing next to Olivia. "Terrible. Absolutely terrible."
Jasmine looked up, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. "What happened? Spill the tea!"
Raven cringed at the inadvertent pun, given the literal spilling that had taken place earlier. She glanced around at her friends, each of their faces a picture of eager anticipation. With a deep breath, she began her tale of woe.
"Okay, so you know how I was nervous about today being my first day as the new sports medicine trainer?" she started.
"Wait, Raven," Jasmine said, sitting up straight and pushing her sketches aside. "You got the sports medicine job?"
Ivy's eyebrows shot up in surprise as she turned to Raven. "No way! You got it?"
Raven, nodded sheepishly. "Yeah, I did. But it's no big deal."
Olivia, always quick with a tease, nudged Raven's shoulder with a playful grin. "No big deal? Are you kidding? The Hawkeyes team are practically the biggest thing on campus right now!"
Jasmine's eyes sparkled with excitement. "That's amazing, Raven!
Ivy nodded in agreement, her expression turning admiring. "Seriously, that's impressive."
Raven shrugged, a modest smile creeping onto her face. "Thanks, guys.
"Okay, so wait why was the day terrible?" Ivy asked, bringing the conversation back to Raven's earlier woes.
"Well I arrived there at 8 AM like the email said but I kind of got lost in the facility. I swear that place is huge and I was kind of panicking because I didn't want to be late to the practice so I kept opening doors and to my luck none of lead anywhere." Raven says.
Olivia sat up, her interest piqued. "What did you do?"
Raven squeezed her eyes shut, willing the memory away. "I might have struggled to open a jammed door and accidentally spilled coffee all over Caitlin Clark."
