In Kiyone's Room

Sudo: You wanted to talk to me?

Kiyone: I need to tell you the truth. About my past.

Sudo: Your past?

Kiyone: Up until my time with you I have never experienced happiness. 

Sudo: What?!

Kiyone: My father is the leader of an organisation known as The White Room. The organisation's goal was to generate the research to create a method to mass produce excellent people with outstanding talent in both Academic and Physical capabilities.

Sudo: So that's why you're so amazing. But what do you mean you never experienced happiness?

Kiyone: My father believed that such a thing could only be achieved in extreme conditions.

Sudo: Wait. What do you mean by that?

Kiyone: If you failed any task you would be beaten mercilessly. 

Sudo: You... That bastard!

Kiyone: He's been arrested. He'll never leave jail again. Ken. I'm sure you noticed the scars on my back

Sudo: I did but I didn't want to stir up your past and upset you. You mean he put you in that place? His own daughter!?

Kiyone: That man has never seen me as his daughter.

Sudo: Then what?

Kiyone: Ken. I'm a Test Subject. To him, I'm nothing more. Nothing less. His Masterpiece. His benchmark for success that he is so desperate to replicate.

Sudo: That's... too cruel.

Kiyone: Ken. I don't know how this will all make you feel about me but there was a point where I saw people as nothing but tools. I prioritized my own survival above all else.

Sudo: Survival?

Kiyone: many children have died. Either from the beatings or from a desire to end it all.

Sudo was horrified.

Sudo: How old were they?

Kiyone: They were trained from birth. They were 6-7 years by the time all my classmates had died.

Sudo: I...

Kiyone: It didn't even faze me. The fear I felt was gone. My emotions were gone.

Sudo: Kiyone.

Kiyone: Ken. In the beginning, I saw you as a tool to understand romance. I didn't think you'd be capable of making me feel the way I do. I was confused that a person like me could feel such things. After everything. Ken. Right now there is no one I value more than you. Not even myself.

Sudo: Kiyone...

Sudo hugged her.

Sudo: You're alright. I'm here. You don't have to hold everything in anymore.

Kiyone: I know.

Sudo- If I ever see that man I'll kill him on sight.
