even though you so
unbelievably want to deny
because you know
you will always get hurt.
Imagine the only person you have ever wanted,
breaking you into
tiny pieces as you
watch their backside
get smaller and smaller,
until you just cannot see them anymore because they decided to erase you
from their favorite lined sheet of paper.
Envision all of your hopes and dreams fading away suddenly
into the darkness because the darkness itself has taken
advantage of you.
Imprint lyrics that you despise
so much into your mind
just to poison yourself because your tainted thoughts
convinced you it's what you want.
Write these unspeakable words
onto your skin
because your brain has told you
it's what you deserve.
But, oh, make sure you smile,
because if you do,
no one will be able to notice
that you are leaving marks on your own veins.
Just tearing yourself apart at the seams.
Carve that smile onto your mouth
to seal
any lingering voices
from escaping your head.
