After talking to Risa, Loren went back to her own office. Her office was filled with different plants and things she got from visiting different provinces across the Philippines. She hummed as she felt the comfort of being alone in her office. She sat down on her chair and began thinking about some things in her life.
Loren is loved by a lot of Filipinos. She has been recognized for her advocacy on environmental issues, disaster risk reduction, and climate change adaptation. Legarda has also been a strong voice for women's rights and empowerment in the Philippines.
Despite being an amazing and successful senator, she wasn't the luckiest with her love life. When she was interviewed if she wanted to get married again, she responded with "Never again", "No man is worth it," adding, "With all the work that I must do, who has time for husbands or boyfriends?"
She was right. Being a highly respected senator is a tough job. She doesn't really have time to waste on some men. For her, the idea of having a lover is a distraction.
She thought about what the younger senator told her, "You had to kids with your former partner, yet you still considered annulment. It made your life better, did it not? You were able to live your own life to the fullest without having a loveless marriage or whatever you and your ex had gone through."
Risa was right, Loren was able to reach her own goals, not just a senator but as a mother as well. She raised two wonderful kids while serving her own country all by herself.
Despite all of her hard work, Loren was still not satisfied. She simply wanted more, but there was something holding her back.
Even though she has two sons, her son Lorenzo disowned her. On during the 2022 election campaign season, her son, Lorenzo, publicly cut ties with her in an open letter after she decided to run as a guest candidate with the Marcos-Duterte senatorial slate in the 2022 elections. Lorenzo, who had been residing in the United States since he turned 18, expressed his strong disapproval towards her actions and criticized her for aligning with Marcos' slate.
Loren thought deep. Even though she's successful with her job, she feels as if she failed with her love life. She's annulled and lost her own son. "How great is that? I failed to do the main purpose of a woman. Be a wife and a mother. " she said to herself sarcastically before opening her laptop and proceeding to do her tasks for the day.
