As planned, the two senators met up at a fine dining Filipino restaurant to discuss things about work. Loren was still a little bit down because of her thoughts earlier that day. Despite all of that, she still kept up with the younger senator, who was somehow still full of energy.
"Sen Risa, thank you, ha." Loren uttered out of nowhere.
"Para saan po?" Risa asked, confused, which made Loren smile.
"You know, dahil sinipot mo ako and granted my request. By now, you should be home with your family resting." She replied.
"Naku Sen. ayos lang po sa akin. Masaya nga ako at despite of your busy schedule may pinilit mo paring makipag meet sa akin para ma discuss nga itong tungkol kay Mayor Guo." The younger senator answered politely.
It's been a while since someone actually sat down with Loren for dinner. Usually, it would just be her if she's not with her staff or not in an event. Even though the dinner was supposed to be work related, she really enjoyed talking with Risa despite the harsh topics. After discussing the Guo and POGO situation, their conversation slowly shifted about their personal lives.
"Alam mo po Sen., I really admire you. I have always had." Risa admitted before taking a bite of her food. "Talaga ba?" Loren said in a sarcastic tone before raising an eyebrow. Risa chuckled before answering. "Totoo po, matagal na. Pinaka peak talaga nung pag idolize ko sayo is when nung sinuportahan mo ako nung tumatakbo ako for a position in the senate way back 2016"
'Sinuportahan', that words began echoing through Loren's mind. She remembered how the two of them used to do campaigns together. How, every after rally, they would chit chat backstage and would make jokes that only the two of them could understand. Besides those moments, there weren't really that much. They weren't the closest because it was given that Risa was much closer with Leni even now in the present time. She remembered how the two even made a video about single moms, and she "Hey I'm a single mom too."
Loren, at the moment, doesn't really get how she's starting to feel all of these things that she used to not care about.
"Yes dear, I remember those days. Yung palagi pa tayong nag uusap backstage. Well, minsan lang kasi hindi naman talaga tayo palaging mag kasama. You spent more time with Attorney Leni dati diba?" Loren said with a hint of jealousy.
"Ahh yes, dati kasi medyo... I don't know, I wouldn't say takot pero nahihiya ako ng kaunti sayo sometimes. And yes, me and Leni spent more time kasi mas close kami dati, kahit ngayon, actually." Risa said smiling. She didn't seem to notice how Loren was jealous of her bond with Leni. It was true they were not that close, and even now, they're still not.
"Pero dati diba ang topic natin palagi is about love tapos lagi mo pa nga ako binibigyan ng mga advice" Risa asked, grinning
"Ah, yes, I remember that as well. Ikaw ba kamusta na ang love life? 'Di ba matagal na kayong wala nung kinekwento mo sa akin dati?" Loren replied.
"Ay opo Sen., matagal na po 'yun, even during the election I felt like it was bound to fall apart na. Pero ikaw po ba? Meron ka na po bang napupusuan?" That question made Loren blush and suddenly nervous, though she doesn't really understand why.
"Naku wala dear, ever since nahiwalay ako sa tatay ng mga anak ko wala na talaga. Meron namang mga dumating pero wala namang masyadong nangyari. Pero, I don't really have time for those. With all the work we have to do, I don't think I still have time for that. Ikaw ba?" Loren defensively said, in which Risa replied with "Halos same lang pala tayo, simula kasi nung namatay ang asawa ko meron namang dumating, 'di nga lang tumatagal
"Parehas lang pala tayong single moms,no?" Loren asked.
"Opo, ang galing nun diba? Parehas single moms fighting for other single moms sa senado, " Risa replied.
That night was amazing for Loren. She got to do what she liked doing best, work, and finally talk with someone who understands her. After a while, they finished their meals and decided it would be better if they headed on their way back to their own homes.
The two walked out of the restaurant together. And even though Loren's car was already near the entrance, she insisted on walking Risa to her ride home.
"You didn't have to." Risa smiled at Loren when they got closer to her car. "Ano ba, ikaw si Senator Hontiveros dapat lang na may mag hatid sayo sa car for your own safety," Loren joked.
"Naku Sen., thank you, po ha! Sa treat mo tonight, " Risa said in which Loren answered with "Walang anuman, anything for you. "
After that, Loren walked away happily before waving goodbye like a happy little child.
It was surely a night to remember.
