"You had no fucking right!" Arthur screamed at his girlfriend who was slouched against the headboard of their bed. Fang glared back, not even doing as much as a flinch from her boyfriend's booming voice. He had heard about Lao's body being found on his gangs territory and it wasn't hard to put together that the Chinese mafia had been tipped off and had the rat figured out.
"It's done." Fang clenched her jaw. "And don't yell at me again."
Arthur pinched the bridge of his nose and groaned. The fact that Fang met up with Hook on her own upset him, not only because she gave up valuable information, but because she could have been killed by someone in a rival gang. "I want you to stop talking to that girl." He ordered angrily.
Fang's head snapped up, "I won't." She stated.
"You will. Imagine what could happen to you if my guys find out that you were the one to-"
"I don't give a shit. Lux is my friend. I did it for her."
"You can make a new friend."
"Go to hell." Fang hissed. "She's the only real friend I've ever had. She's done so much for me and never asks for anything in return. I won't try and replace her just cuz you told me to."
Arthur shook his head. He wasn't used to Fang acting this way. She'd always follow his commands when they'd be given since she felt that he knew what was best for them both, but this time Fang wasn't budging. "What does she have on you?"
Fang rolled her eyes. "You think that's what it is? That's she's using me?" He stayed silent. "I know how to read people just as well as you do. She's not like that. And if me being friends with her means that you're going to start leaving me in the dark about what you're doing, then whatever."
Arthur knew there was no changing his girlfriend's mind. She was as loyal as they came. A ride or die. That's why he loved her so much. Fang couldn't just let go of Lux because their two worlds were at war. She needed her. Lux was her comfort. Her light. When Arthur would be away for a long time, Lux was the one to comfort Fang on those lonely nights to wipe her tears away. She was the one to remind her that everything would be okay. Fang wouldn't let that go no matter what.
Arthur sighed, sitting beside Fang on their bed. "Just... tell me what's going on next time. And don't go making secret meetings on your own." If anything ever happened to Fang, Arthur wouldn't hesitate to kill any suspect. They'd all be dead if he thought they had something to do with her being harmed. There would be no surveillance or investigation. Just bodies in the ground.
Fang nodded in agreement, lowering her eyes down. She would walk through flames to protect Lux. Nobody, not even her own boyfriend could stop her from doing that. Fang promised herself that she'd be there if Lux started to drown. She'd be her air. The current that pushed her back to shore. It'll always be them. Always.

"Shorter." Lux giggled, playfully pushing him away as she wiggled around beneath the covers. "Cut it out." He continued to nuzzle into her neck, pulling her in closer to keep her from leaving their bed. "It's my first day. You know I can't be late."
Lux's parents had known a few people at Central Hospital that could help get their daughter a part time job while she attended nursing school. She was a shoe in for the position and her parents had thought it'd be good for her to be in a medical setting to familiarize herself with the environment, even if it was just a receptionist position.
"Okay okay." Shorter pouted, letting Lux's hand fall out of his as she pulled away towards the restroom. "Need me to drop you off?"
"That's okay." She called out over the running water of the shower. "I have a few things to do after I get off."
