Lux and Oz had checked Sing's file and found his address. What they didn't expect was to pull up to a vacant building that was in the midst of being torn down. "What the hell?"
"Guess he's been using a fake address." Lux shook her head. "This doesn't make sense."
Oz went through the photo gallery on his phone where he snapped the picture of the address. Thankfully he had also gotten a picture of Lao's old file. "Wait, there's two different addresses." He turned the screen for Lux to see. "Wouldn't hurt to try."
What they rolled up onto next was somehow even more shocking. It was another run down building that was covered in graffiti and had boarded up windows, but it was definitely occupied. There were boys with baggy clothes, smoking cigarettes coming in and out of the building, some bringing in girls with them. Others looking around like they had something on them that they weren't supposed to be caught with. If this is what Sing grew up around then Lux wasn't surprised with how he was turning out.
"You really think Lao is in there?" Oz made sure that his doors were locked. He already felt uneasy around Sing. So being around guys who probably acted like him, if not worse made Oz even more uncomfortable.
"He's gotta be."
"And what are you planning on saying if he is in there?"
"Well somebody has to tell him that his brother is in jail because he decided to give him a weapon." Lux was furious. Sing was starting to get really good at school and was showing so much improvement, even gaining more trust from his teachers. All of his hard work was for nothing. The next person to walk towards the complex was the brunette girl that was with Shorter and Ash at the food joint. Lux could never forget this girls face. More specifically, and regrettably, the girls body. "Stay here." She said.
"You're not going in there alone." Oz started to take off his seat belt.
"I'll be fine. I swear." Lux got out of the car and called out to the brunette.
Jasmine turned around and pointed to herself, "Me?"
"Yeah." Lux walked over, "Do you know Sing?" She asked.
Jasmine looked Lux up and down and raised her eyebrow, "Who's asking?"
"I'm a friend from school."
Jasmine squinted at the girl in expensive clothes. She couldn't stand girls that looked like how Lux did with the way her hair was sleek and shiny, how her white flats didn't have a single smudge on them, and especially how she had those judgmental eyes like she was better than everybody she looked at.
Lux stood there waiting for a response. Her eyes wandered all over this girl. Her style was similar to Fang's. Very messy, dressed in wrinkly and distressed clothing. The girls hair definitely had tangles in it and her make up also looked like it was done in a rush. Either that or it was slept in by the way her eyeliner was smudged under her eyes and how her lipstick looked faded.
"Wait here." Jasmine said.
Lux turned around and noticed Oz staring at her through the car window. When Jasmine came back, Lao was following not too far behind her. Jasmine shot Lux a glare and headed inside. "Who are you?" The older teen asked.
Lux cleared her throat. She could somewhat see the resemblance between Lao and Sing. "I go to school with your brother." She crossed her arms, "I hope you know you got him kicked out."
"He'll be fine."
"Are you kidding me!? He's in jail right now!" Lux shouted. It angered her how Sing's own brother couldn't care less about his well being, his future, his safety, everything.
