"Bella is going to ruin our lives! We don't need a human knowing about us or our problems!"

Rosalie was absolutely furious. How could they be so careless? Why couldn't they understand the risks of bringing a human into their lives?

The Cullen family stood around, giving Rosalie glances of pity as she continued to convince the others that having Bella around was not okay.

"Rosalie, please, just calm down," Carlisle started. "If this is what Edward thinks is the best for him and Bella, then we have to be supportive as family."

Rosalie glared at Carlisle, then Edward, who stood in front of Bella in a protective manner.

"She isn't even his mate! He does realize that, doesn't he!?" She pointed an accusing finger at Bella who pushed herself into Edward more. "He just likes her because of her blood! And let's be honest, it's hard enough for all of us to be around her!"

Edward glared at Rosalie before taking a warning step forward.

"If you don't shut up, I'll make you" Edward growled. After waiting so long to find his mate, he had finally hoped that he had finally found them. He was in denial and he refused to admit that Bella just wasn't the one for him.

"Fine! If you guys won't admit it, then I'm leaving until you can put your heads on straight"

Alice tried to stop her mate before she made any rash decisions but it was no use. Once she makes up her mind, it's hard to change it.

Using her speed, she quickly ran upstairs to her room and packed a suitcase full of clothes. She grabbed her make-up, toothbrush, toothpaste, and hair products that she would need during her 'vacation'.

On her way out, Esme and Carlisle tried one last time to stop her but it was no use as she had already walked out the door. She had just the place to go.

(M/n) Hale had just pulled himself out of the water when he heard the sound of footsteps making their way inside his home. His home was a beautiful stone house in France, surrounded by nature. He had his own pool in his backyard, away from curious eyes. Here, he could swim to his content and not worry about anyone seeing his tail.

(M/n) was a merman. He grew up in the ocean but fell in love with the idea of living a human life on land. So, when (M/n) was 17, he ventured up to the surface for the first time in his life. It took him a while to learn the ways of humans but it was totally worth it. The sights, the people, and most importantly, the food.

Just like wolves and vampires, mermen (and mermaids) had mates; someone that they would love forever. (M/n) had yet to meet his despite all the traveling he has done around the world. If (M/n) was being completely honest, life was just perfect without a mate. He didn't have to worry about keeping them happy and he could take time to focus on himself and what makes him happy.

Scooting over to grab a towel off of the chair near his pool, he called out to the person in his house.

"Hello?"

Heels clicking through his house soon came closer to the patio door before a furious looking Rosalie walked outside.

Rosalie and (M/n) had met when he had first come to France. Rosalie was a sweet young woman who fell in love with the wrong man. They had been family since the 1920s. After 1933, (M/n) never saw Rosalie again.
