Chapter 12

Callie and Cameron sit down at a table, smiling to one another.

"I'm so happy this is going decent for me!" Callie excitedly shivers.

"Hell yeah!"

Rowan walks over towards the table and hands Cameron his lunch bag.

"Thanks, Dad." Cameron smiles and takes the bag.

Callie looks down and sighs. Both Cameron and Rowan look over.

"What's the matter?" Cameron asks. "Is he still under your skin?"

"No, I just didn't pack anything to eat." Callie groans.

Cameron stops a little. He then pulls out his pizza and rips it in half from the crust, giving it to her.

"I'm not letting you go hungry." Cameron hands her a napkin as well.

Callie smiles and gives Cameron a kiss on the cheek.

"So, Callie, what is my son like with you? Shy? Open? ...A horny little shit?"

"DAD!" Cameron yelps.

"No no no, not at all, Rowan. I quite think he's mature, and he definitely knows his way with me. He defends me, protects me, but who's to say I can't protect myself?"

"Then why are we in court again?" Cameron snickers.

"That's a whole other thing, Mr. Literal. I like to be independent too." Callie mutters. She then turns back to Rowan. "I'm not the damsel in distress in most situations, but Cammy has been there to make sure I am always the damsel. Granted, it does feel nice having a big bodyguard." She smiles, rubbing Cameron's hair.

"Hm. Protective. So, when are you going to have kids with him?" Rowan jokes.

"What?" Cameron and Callie look at each other, then back at Rowan.

"I don't think having kids is for me. Too much work." Callie shrugs.

"Dad, don't worry, she's gonna have my babies. I will protect those babies with my life."

"Cameron, I'm not having kids."

"Watch, in a few years, you'll want them. I bet money on it."

"Push it, and you will end up still with your father, and without me."

"Uhh..sorry." Cameron ends, turning away from her.

Rowan leans over and whispers in Cameron's ear. "I bet money she'll have kids too, she has the structure for it." Cameron chuckles upon his father's agreement.

Once back in the courtroom, the judge coughed and hacked a little.

"I hereby declare this court to be once again back in session. I'm assuming both parties have used this time well?"

Barry stepped up. "The prosecution is still certain of Ryan's guilt, your honor.

Jeremiah nervously stepped up as well. "The defense is ready to continue."

"Very well." The judge pulls up some papers. "Prosecution counsel, I assume you have another witness you'd like to bring to the stand?"

"Correct." Barry states confidently. "The prosecution moves the defendant himself, Ryan Hughes, on the stand."

"I see. Come forward Mr. Hughes." The judge looks down at him with piercing eyes.

"Uh huh.." Ryan groans, getting sworn in.
