"KI HURRY UP!" my mother screamed as I walked past her room.
Today starts my third year of high school at my new school. Because my mother and father got a divorce, my mother decided to find a new job which caused us to move so she can be closer to work. Unfortunately that also caused me and my brother, J. Drew, to switch schools. Lucky for him, it's his last year so he's practically done.
Once I was done getting ready, I went downstairs to get breakfast. My mom made pancakes, eggs, and bacon. After eating, we hugged our mom and left out. I decided to ride with J. Drew because I didn't want to drive which I quickly regretted once he started listening to god knows what.
The school was not that far from the house so we were there in about 10 minutes. From the looks of it, this school was big as hell. Big school means a lot of kids, just great. We got out the car and walked into the building, going straight to the office. The secretary took us to the principal's office, where he then gave us our schedules and split us up. Two people, one senior and one junior, came and took us on a tour of the school. The school was literally so big that me and J. Drew didn't even cross paths while on our separate tours.
The girl who gave me my tour was Erica. She explained that she was a cheerleader, SGA president, on the debate team, and so much more. She was basically the face of the school since her family donated to the school often. Once the tour was done, she took me back to the principal's office so we can fix whatever needed to be fixed on my schedule. I spent most of my morning in this office, doing absolutely nothing. As soon as lunch came around, I went to find J and got his keys. I sat in the car until lunch was over.
As I was walking back into the school, I accidentally bumped into this girl.
"Bitch watch where the fuck you're going" I looked at her like she was crazy because who was she talking to
"Watch your mouth"
"Or what" she said getting in my face
"Back the hell up before I smacked the shit out you. Your breath smells like you lick balls of shit"
A circle of laughing teenagers started forming around us
"Watch your back little girl" she said then walked away
I picked up my phone and went outside. I was contemplating whether or not I should go home. As soon as I was about to call my Uber, Erica came outside.
"Hey you okay"
"Yeah im straight"
"Okay. Don't mind her, she thinks because she is captain of the cheer team she can treat people however she wants"
"Mhm"
"School isn't over you know" she said while pointing at my phone. I still had the Uber app open
"I know, Im not leaving just thought about it"
"Oh okay good. Where's your schedule?" I handed it to her
"Come on we have next period together" she said while grabbing my arm
We went to class and she told the teacher something. The teacher let us sit down. This class was AP art so to me it was pretty easy since I enjoy drawing. We had a project due next week. For the project, you had to draw something that meant a lot to you. I already have a feeling of what i'll draw.
For the rest of the class, the teacher allowed us to brainstorm. When there was about 15 mins left in class, the teacher asked me to come to her desk. We introduced ourselves to each other and she let me know more about the class since we were a little late.
After art class, the day went by pretty fast. I had two more classes then it was time to go. Today was really some bullshit if you ask me. I waited outside by J's car until he came outside. As soon as he came outside we left.
"Lil sis why i'm hearing you was rey fight on your first day of school"
"Because I was. The girl was talking to me crazy calling me bitches and shit"
"Dont be getting in trouble this school year. You really almost done with school dont mess it up"
I just nodded my head and got on my phone. Stuff gets around fast in this school. On our way home we stopped at Chick Fa La. As soon as we got home, my mom was eager to hear about our day, we couldn't even get in the door.
"Sooooooooo how was school? Made any friends? Did you like your classes?"
"It was good momma"
"What did you do? Do you like it? Tell me something Ki"
"I like my afternoon classes. They had us in the principal's office all morning so I didn't go to my morning classes. I think i'll have a good year unless this girl keeps messing with me"
"What girl" she said sound concerned
"I don't know her name but she got mad because I accidentally bumped her so we fussed and she told me to watch my back but im okay momma, i promise"
"Okay baby. You let me know if she tries something" she said while giving me a hug
We talked a little bit more before I went upstairs to my room. I decided to start on my art project before bed. Im gonna draw a clock with family around it. Basically trying to show that spending time with those that I love means a lot to me.
I spent about an hour on it before getting ready for bed. I showered, did my skin care routine, which is pretty simple, then laid down. I scrolled on TikTok before finally going to sleep.
