Jake had noticed Johnnie's strange behavior for quite some time now. Ever since they had gotten back from the podcast they were just on, he had noticed that Johnnie was quieter than usual and would snap at the smallest things. This was completely unlike him.

It was totally understandable at first that Johnnie could have been a bit stressed from the shoot, though this kind of behavior was completely new to him, as they've been on numerous podcasts before, and he never noticed anything wrong. Johnnie had always been quiet and more of the calmer type, but definitely not like this. He had become increasingly more irritable and reserved, and it wasn't just that Johnnie was upset in some way, there was something off about his body language as well.

He caught sight of his friend rubbing his wrists and scratching at his forearms. It was as if he was trying to hide something, and he was also wearing a oversized sweater. They had been friends for well over two years, but even in all that time, he had never seen Johnnie wear something like that. Something was wrong.

Jake's mind raced with possible explanations but nothing made sense. He knew he had to talk to him about it, but he wasn't exactly sure how to bring it up without sounding accusatory or rude, and the timing had to be absolutely perfect.

As they both got out of the car and headed into their home, Jake glanced sideways at his friend, studying his expression, still as blank as a slate, and noticed the small, faded purple bruise on his chin. This small detail only added to his growing sense of uneasiness. He quietly opened the door, and the two of them went inside.

As soon as Jake closed the door behind them, he turned to face his friend, to hopefully have a conversation about it, but he was already quickly heading to his room without as much as a word exchanged between them.

That was weird, he'd at least say something. 'Weather was nice today,' or 'Wanna order something?' Whatever it was. Just what was wrong with him? It seemed like he was avoiding him entirely.

"Johnnie..." He began, but the door to Johnnie's room immediately closed off before he could complete his thought.

Jake stood there for a moment, taking in Johnnie's quick exit to his room. Frustrated and perplexed, he took a deep breath and ran a hand through his hair.

He had to ask, he had to get to the bottom of this. He leaned against the wall, thinking about how to word his concerns without coming off too strong. As he thought, he heard a soft, muffled sound coming from Johnnie's room. It sounded like... a sob? Or did he hear something else entirely?
