1613 wordsThe colorful strobe lights danced around the cramped room as sweaty bodies rubbed against each other. The music thumped in Jisungs ears like war drums. Boom. Boom. He felt like he was suffocating in this room but he didn't know how to escape this moment. He thought he would be used to it by now, as he had been in the Kpop industry for almost 8 years. Debuting when he was 14 and working up from the bottom of his small company he had gained everything he had, all his fans, from pure drive and passion for music. He didn't simply want his music to be listened to, he wanted it to be heard. Though the chaotic and stressful idol life sometimes felt unbearable he had learned how to cope through writing and producing music.
But, sometimes he still found himself in these situations. In a room filled with strangers who only pretended to like him because of his fame. All he wanted to do was find his friend Felix, who had been the one to drag him here in the first place.
He fished inside his pocket for his phone and quickly sent a text to his best friend. Felix he had met when he was a trainee. They shared a bunk in their dorm room and got close when they found the code to their trainer's mini fridge in the practice room, which they had found stocked with massive amounts of Ben and Jerry's ice cream. After Jisung debuted as Han, the youngest ACE of kpop, Felix was the only one who seemed to stay by his side and not treat him differently as he started gaining fans. Felix was someone he could always rely on. Well, except for times like these, where Jisung was sure Felix had gotten distracted talking to someone or grinding against someone on the dance floor. Jisung couldn't be mad, this is how his best friend always was. But at parties like these where Jisung couldn't escape to an empty bedroom or corner and everyone seemed to be staring at him all he wanted to do was go home.
After what seemed like hours of lumbering and pushing his way through the drunk idols, getting blinded by the fake smiles and suckup laughter, he finally found his way up to the second floor of the house. Which to him seemed swimming of scandals. Everywhere he looked were the young famous actors, models, singers, and dancers known to be so "pure" and "innocent" making out against walls. He sighed and made his way to the first open door he saw.
Shutting it as soon as he got inside he made aware of the dark bedroom he had stumbled into. The room was basic, gray furniture, a few simple throw pillows on the white bed, and ugly stock-looking pictures hung on the walls. Nothing different than most of the empty rooms he found himself in while at these parties. Staring out the windows he realized there was a balcony outside and he decided he needed some fresh air anyway. So he made his way out and was met with the soothing whispers of wind and finally a moment of peace.
Downstairs the party still raged, and Minho was searching for the girl he decided was pretty enough to go get a drink for. Though if he was being honest everyone here was gorgeous. I mean it was a room full of the most beautiful people in Korea but he was surprised his head would turn so many times at the gorgeous faces around the room. Minho felt a sharp jab in his side and heard the muffled sound of laughter over the blaring music.
"Minho, there you are, I was wondering if you were gonna come!" Hyunjin, one of his closest friends, who he'd met through his dance crew "Danceracha", a recklessly handsome guy who had practically the entire room wrapped around his finger smiled at him.
"Of course, I would never miss a party, especially one with such an... attractive guestlist," Minho smirked with a devilish grin as his head shifted left to right grazing the faces around him. He would be lying if he said he didn't have a few shots of soju, and his head already was in the clouds.
"I get what you mean, this is the best of the best of Korea," He winked. "Speaking of which, look who's coming over here," He grabbed Minho's arm and spun him to where Lee Felix made his way twirling across the dance floor towards them, "Hey Felix!"
"Oh hey guys! This party is great Hyunjin, I'm loving this music," Felix laughed as Hyunjin blanched, and Minho joined in. The song that just came on was "Up All Night" by Han, who their entire dance squad knew was Hyunjin's die-hard favorite artist. Everyone also knew Felix was Han's best friend so when Felix joined the crew you can imagine Hyunjin's relentless questions and excitement. Despite Hyunjin being in the idol industry for so long he had yet to meet Han at a party.
"You know he's here, I always try to drag him to these things despite his absolute hatred for anything people-related." Hyunjin puckered his lips as Felix spoke, pure fanboy shining through which made Minho laugh once again. "I'm sure you'd find him somewhere, he's probably hiding in a corner like the loser he is." Felix rolled his eyes and chuckled.
"Hey don't talk about Han like that, I can't believe you dragged him here Felix, now he's gonna hate me!" Hyunjin dramatically whined. "Go find him and bring him down here to talk to me so I can say sorry!"
"You go find him if you want to talk to him so bad!" Felix retorted, shaking his head and pointing his finger, as Hyunjin just pouted and crossed his arms across his chest. It was obvious to Minho that both of them had had their fair share of drinks tonight. "Anyway I should probably find him and get going, it's almost four and I think most of us here have schedules in the morning."
Despite Felix's wisdom of going home and sleeping, the alcohol and atmosphere made it hard for Minho to leave. His brain also was clouded so he spoke up, "Hyunjin and I can help you find him, I'm sure Jinnie's dying of meeting him anyway, plus I need to head out soon as well. I have classes in the morning."
So Felix grabbed both Hyunjin's and Minho's arms and pushed through the ongoing party to search for the boy whose voice was still singing in the speakers above the dance floor. Minho shook his head, he had always admired Han's voice, his rapping game seemed practically flawless, and don't get him started on his dance style. He even considered himself a die-hard fan, he just didn't like being as open about it as Hyunjin. Minho could just relate to all of Han's songs and loved how personal they felt, like lines straight from Han's diary.
"I'm up all night, drinking away the time, sitting in the corner of the cave I've chipped away all my life." Minho's always struggled to understand these lyrics, and yet staring down from the stairs at the roaring party he begins to understand Han. Suddenly he doesn't mind leaving, and he quickens the pace of his search.
"Yo, where are you Felix, I want to go homeee!" Jisung whines into his phone after Felix finally answers his call.
"Calm down, calm down. I'm ready to go too, I was just searching for you." Jisung let out a sigh of relief, he was scared Felix was gonna be as drunk as he usually was and he would have to go find him and force him to leave the dance floor. "Oh yeah, if you see a tall blonde guy who seems honestly creepily excited to meet you, sorry."
"You'd be surprised by how many people like that come up to me, don't worry about it. Let's just leave, I'm upstairs but I can meet you at the front door."
"Ok great, then I'll see you," With that Jisung stuffed his phone back into his pocket and turned to leave his hiding spot. However, as he was going to grab the doorknob the door suddenly swung open and he was left standing before a handsome face. Expecting the guy to move and get out of his way Jisung waited as the guy stared at him.
"Heh, are you going to move?" Jisung awkwardly scratched the back of his neck. "Sorry that sounded rude, I'm wondering if you could let me through?" The guy stared on though, damn what's wrong with this guy? He thought.
"Oh, I'm sorry!" The guy finally jumped out of the way and launched himself into a 90-degree bow, Jisung almost laughed at how petrified the guy was, the way he held the bow for so long was cute.
"Haha there's no need to bow, it's not like I'm a prince or anything." Jisung laughs and shakes his hands before him, signaling for the guy to stand up. Face still as white as a ghost, a small awkward smile appeared on his face and he let out a croak of a laugh that had Jisung's smile widening in amusement. "Alright I really should be leaving, maybe I'll see you later?"
The guy's eyes widened and his mouth slightly fell open. As Jisung strode off he heard a faint, "Good night," from the handsome guy he was walking away from, which left a genuine smile on his face. Making his way down the stairs he was stopped by a tall, ecstatic blonde guy introducing himself as Felix's friend.
