Rochelle's pov

He wasn't answering his phone anytime that I had tried to reach him and yet, I called his mum Lynn on the phone who answered my calls to her as she sounded relieved to hear my voice over the phone. "Hello, Rochelle. I'm so relieved that you had called me because I was scared that something might happen to my oldest son Mason who went to see his dad." I was wondering what was going on here also i needed to know why she was too afraid of his dad like this wasn't a normal kind of thing to be fearing her ex-husband Mr Avery including how he always admitted to me that he wanted to change his last name to mine or his mum however, he didn't even explained the reason behind it to me.

Logically, I started to count up and collect the dots together two plus two made four. He pushed other people away to avoid their sympathy stares as well as isolated himself from everyone not because he wanted to but the reason simply for it explained itselves how he didn't want them to worried about not when he was too used to looking out for everyone else his entire life. Furthermore, i had got his back in this one thousand percent. I sprinted out the door towards the driveway to hopped inside my car as all our friends were in the same as me while other where in Wyatt car driving all the way to the police station to show their support for him.

" Hey, I know that you're busy but he isn't picking up his phone." I said with panicked laced through my voice. " I only thought his father was an alcoholic but please tell me everything about their relationship if you don't mind."I begged his mum.

No longer was i sitting in the driver seat as i switched places with Jessanym who played a song by Harry Styles called Fine Line knowing that i can't be left alone and deep buried in my thoughts at this moment feeling like he was hiding the worst part of this past from it made me want to unraveled each chapter of his past life to figured it out. He needed to know that he wasn't alone in this messy situation which had got me thinking maybe his dad was a heck of an abusive drunk who thrived on beating up his family and degrading his sons for no reason but to bring them down.

Hopefully, he will get the closure that he needs from his dad in order to move on and live a happy, peaceful and astonishing lifestyle to be free from all of his past burdens.

"Do you know the night that he had broken up with you? None of it was his fault because I had gotten a letter in the mailbox from his dad saying that he had incriminating evidence that could ruin my life and then the stress from the lawyers caused him to mess up at his hockey practices and also was messing with his head." his mum, Ms Abrams explained to me.

Those anxiety attacks that he had and the ways he carried himself around as if he was in a good place until his own storms started to rush over the horizon had come blooding his peace of mind and I guess that he wanted to get rid of the fact his father put himself before his family.

I couldn't hold the words back out anymore. "Tell me how abusive his dad was toward you guys."I breathed and then said "I promise after this I won't ask anymore questions."

Teardrops rolled down my eyes.

Not realizing that we had made it to the police station closer to his house, I stepped outside the car taking a big sigh as my feet started to move so easily on their own to the front door of the station.

"We both drew blood with our words but their father's words cut deeper than mine. Their dad .....hurt me once but then our Mason saw everything and there were those never ending fights between the two of them. Mason made it his job to be our protector to make sure that their dad never lay a hand on me and his brothers again." his mum, Lynn, told me the whole story.

Oh Mason must've a difficult childhood and his family didn't deserve any of this nonsense!
Smiling through those tears must've been so hard for them.
Occasionally, life can be so unfair since we were all brought up in a world where our parents were supposed to love unconditionally or when love is not supposed to be earned but given by without working for it and begging for someone to love us.

"Man, I wish I could have someone who loves me the same way you love him."Wyatt said to me.

"I agree, the way that they love each other is so magical too." said Avenna, glancing at Wyatt quietly.

Shortly after speaking to Mason's mum on the phone. I headed straight into the police station willing to give his dad a piece of my mind feeling very vexed about how his dad treated his own family like that and accidentally shoved Grayson out of the way to get to Mason soon asking a police woman for directions to meet my man there. And then I saw him sitting across from his dad, which meant they both didn't see me approach their table until I had cleared my throat to speak up.

"What kind of a father physically abused their own sons and their wife at the time?" I asked in pure disgust. I wasn't going to hold back but to rip off the band-aid and I hope Mr Avery rot in hell for every single damage that he had caused them. "Just admit it that you weren't man enough to go get help especially when she spent every penny for you to go rehab but you spent it on your cheap liquor instead and they were just kids. You were a despicable human being who was supposed to be their father!" I exclaimed in hatred to his dad.

Mason simply just smiled at me as he pulled me into a hug and whispered in my ear. "That's my girl who I would do absolutely anything for or with. Just name your prices, my songbird."he kissed my lips softly to deepen the kiss. We stopped kissing and then he decided to give me a piggyback in front of him.

We left the police station, leaving his dad speechless with my words meanwhile everyone else was clapping including the security guards at my sudden outburst of speech.

At the end of the day, he took his brothers Aiden and Hayden to McDonalds with us for a celebratory meals you know, that might just be kids but we were the next generational Lawyers, prime mistress/ misters, singers, doctors, scientists, hockey players, coaches, engineers and etc. we were basically family to each other.

When all was lost; we would alway depend on each other too.
