Part 46: The Post Christmas Celebrations

Unluckily for my family, Florence's birthday happens to be the 28th of December meaning that it's a very expensive month for me. Between Billie, Christmas and Flo, I'm going to have to work double time.

This morning I cooked her, her favourite pancakes and we gave her a few gifts. We've been staying at a log cabin is aspen for the past 2 days and todays our last full day before we go home tomorrow. Billie gifted her a bunch of new clothes and shoes that she'd asked for and she's been wearing them for the whole trip. My grandma is currently at the cabin with shark, who's loving the snow and as promised we're going skiing. Flo is with my parents and I've stolen Billie. She told me that she can ski but she's not been in a while, so this should be good. The boys and I try go every winter now, so you could say I'm pretty experienced. I prefer snowboarding though.

"You ready babe?" I ask as we queue for the ski lift

"I'm nervous" she admits

"It's ok I'll be here" I say grabbing her hand "we're next". I line us up for the lift and she squeals as we're lifted into the air, I pull the safety barrier down. I wrap my arm around her and place a hand on her thigh. "You've done this before and you've done much scarier come on babe"

"Shut up Y/N" she says and that's me told.

We shortly arrive at the top of the slope and I help her off. We set off and I pull my phone out recording her basically screaming the whole way down. By the time we reached the bottom I'm in a fit of laughter, I honestly don't know how I didn't fall. Billie hits me with one of her poles, someone's not happy.

We go round a few time before meeting back up with my family and going down the easier slopes with Florence so that my parents can go off.

After a few more hours we sit at the ski lodge cafe and I grab everyone drinks. "Here's your hot chocolate birthday girl" I say playing it in front of her

"How has your birthday been" Billie asks

"AMAZING" she shouts a little too loud

"Quiet baby" my mum says as she sips her drink

"Billie I think the whole mountain could here you screaming" my dad laughs

"That was only the first go" she says embarrassed

"Look at the video" I say showing my dad which makes him laugh even more.

We shortly finish the drinks and I drive back over the cabin. Walking in the house it smells amazing, my grandma has been whipping up a chocolate cake.

"Hey grandma we're home" I shout

"Florence stay in the living room Y/N, Billie come here" she shouts back

We both enter the kitchen "Can you light the candles and carry it in"

I grab the cake and Billie lights the candles to walk into the living room, we begin singing happy birthday. Billie sounds angelic as always so I attempt to sing at a harmony with her and it ends up sounding pretty until my dad starts belting. Florence blows out the candles and we cheer.

"What did you wish for" my mum asks

"Can't tell you" she says folding her arms "because it won't come true"

"Smart kid" my grandma says

We spend the rest of our evening playing the games Flo wanted and eating her favourite food pizza, being 8 must be great.

We hit the slopes for a few more hours in the morning and then packed up and flew home. The rest of the 29th was spent at home; cleaning and sleeping off the Christmas holidays.
