The one thing that Ashley Parker hated about her job at Family Video was that she always got stuck on the morning shift on the weekends, which also happened to be its busiest days. In her opinion, there was nothing worse than having to deal with a rush of impatient customers when she was barely alert of her own surroundings. She was prone to making small mistakes that would easily be avoidable if it wasn't so early in the morning.

The teen girl currently stood behind the front counter, furiously rubbing at her eyes to try and alleviate the remnants of exhaustion that may still linger. The last thing she needed was to accidentally fall asleep on the job and receive a lecture from her incompetent but irritating manager. She needed to be somewhat awake in order to deal with the inevitable rush of customers that she was so sure would show up within the next hour.

"Ooh, I think I found our morning movie!" An overly excited voice filled the air and that was somehow to cause the teen girl snap out of her sleep deprived trance.

She pulled her eyes away from the stained countertop and was met with the beaming sight of Robin Buckley, who was quick to grab a copy of her film choice off of the display case. She looked like a proud mother by the way she showcased the designated vhs tape to everyone in the room, a bright smile plastered on her face. "It's Doctor Zhivago."

Steve Harrington, who also happened to be scheduled to work at the same time as both girls, couldn't help but grimace in disgust at the sight. "Ugh, you know I don't do double VHS."

"But it's about doomed love." Robin let out a huff of air, almost pouting like a small child.

"Oh, well, that's relatable." Steve rolled his eyes in annoyance, clearly referring to his failing but equally as confusing love life.

"Precisely." Robin quickly nodded in agreement. "Also, Julie Christie is b-b-bonkers hot in this. Like, seriously, one of the most beautiful creatures I have seen in my life."

"You're not wrong about that." Ashley couldn't help but agree at the image of the attraction actress that had suddenly popped into her head.

Robin had then swiftly moved around the counter, taking her spot beside her girlfriend, who was now comfortably leaning against the surface. The movie tape tightly clutched in her hand with full intention of loading it into the designated vhs player to have as background noise during the rest of their work shift. But upon turning on the television, the teens were instantly greeted with the local news channel.

"We're in the Forest Hills trailer park in east Roane County." The solemn voice of the news reporter filled the room. "We don't have a lot of details now but we can confirm that the body of a Hawkins High student was discovered early this morning." All of their eyes widened in disbelief, practically glued to the screen.
