"Are you sure you don't need a ride, Angelina?" My co-worker Chloe asks me, about to leave the restaurant.

Im currently finishing up my shift at the restaurant late at night as the storm gets worse and worse, which is odd considering here in California were lucky to even get one day of rain each year, let alone a whole storm!

"Im okay, I'll just call a friend," I assure her, wiping down the last table with my rag.

"Alright, Angelina. Be careful out there please."

"I will. Drive carefully, okay?"

"I will!" She called out before grabbing her keys off of the counter and leaving.

As I put away my dirty rag, I jump at the sound of thunder nearby. Taking out the trash, I ring up my bestfriend Maddy, who usually picks me up from work after she's done hanging out with Nate.

Hey Bitch! Its Maddy, sorry can't answer, leave a message-BEEP!

I groan, looking at my phone under a windowsill, trying my best to hide from the rain. No bars, no signal. Great.

I jog over to the parking lot, looking for Chloe's car in hope that she'll still be here. But the lot is empty.

My body is shivering as I lift my phone up to the rainy sky, trying to get some sort of signal. My teeth start chattering, feeling as if I'm about to get hypothermia. Something Im definitely not used to is cold weather, as East Highland weather rarely goes below 50 degrees, even during winter time.

Sighing, I turn around to go back into the restaurant. But the Knob doesn't turn.

"Right," I say, searching my pockets for the keys. Then I remember-I don't even have pockets.

"Oh you have got to be fucking kidding me!" I groan.

I try opening the door without any luck. Groaning, I look at the fancy watch my Mom got me for my sixteenth birthday not too long ago. Midnight. God, why do I choose to work so late?

Seeing as It's midnight and in the middle of a tropical ass storm, I don't expect anyone to be driving around. I slide down against the wall, gently hitting my head against it. I cannot believe this is seriously happening.

Why can't the universe just be on my side for one-fucking time?!

"It's fine," I say, trying to reassure myself while shivering my non-existence ass off. Since I left my slightly cozier uniform in the restaurant, I'm wearing a tank top and jean shorts. But I keep telling myself it's fine, because what else can I do? Cry? Knock on a million empty stores, hoping a creepy stranger will open theirs and welcome me into their home?

Yeah, no thanks. I'd much rather freeze to death.

All of a sudden, a car honks from the street beside me. Inside, a man rolls down his window.

"Hey, sweetheart!" A raspy voice croaks out. "Need a lift? It's sure as hell cold out here!"

Im cold and wet, but I'm definitely not stupid.

"Uh...no thanks! Im okay!" I respond, shivering. I begin to walk away from the vehicle out of pure womanly instinct.

"Nah, honey. Get in here! I promise I don't bite!" The man pushes, tailing me. "Come one, it's warm in here. I'll give ya a ride to wherever."

"I said I'm okay," I insist, walking faster. Im worried. The car follows. Great. I start jogging. The car continues to follow. Next thing I know, Im fucking running for my life, running and running.

In a blurry frenzy of fear, I run until I'm in the middle of some alleyway, completely out of breath.

Jesus how far did I run? It only felt like a few seconds.

I take notice of where I am, trying to figure out where to go next, until I recognize a certain house in the sketchy alley.

Fezco's.

I met Fez through Rue, and although I've only had a proper conversation with him a few times before, he seems trustworthy enough. Unlike his younger brother Ashtray. Ashtray has always been a total dick to me, especially whenever I would tag along with Rue to the store so she could buy whatever drugs drug addicts use these days.

I've never really understood why Ashtray has always acted like he hated me considering we barley even know each other. But It's whatever, I have more important things to worry about.

Anyway, seeing as I'm in a perpetual shower at the moment, I'll take my chances to run into the bitchy drug dealer.

I jog down the alleyway until I reach the house. Luckily I see a light on inside.

I knock on the door, praying that somebody answers.

I stand on the porch still waiting for someone to answer before suddenly the door opens and Ashtray is towering over me.

"What the hell, Angelina?" Ashtray exclaims "What are you doing here?" He asks, looking me up and down like I'm some mouse his cat killed and brought to his doorstep.

"Uh, I don't know, maybe trying not to freeze to death? What does it look like?"

Ashtray just stares at me like I'm crazy for an awkward moment until Fezco pushes him out of the way.

"Angelina? What are you doing here? It's late as hell!" The ginger asks, his voice laced in concern.

"I just-I was working a late shift at the restaurant and accidentally locked myself outside, and I don't have a car, and I don't have phone signal, so I just-"

Cutting me off, Fezco gently reaches for my exposed arm and pulls me inside.

I sigh out of relief, happy to blocked from the rain and in a warm enclosed place.

"How'd you get from work all the way to here?" Fezco questions. Ashtray standing a few feet away, continues to glare at me with judgement in his eyes that he isn't even trying to hide.

"Um, some creep kept following me. It scared me and I was already super cold and unsettled so I just ran and ran until I couldn't anymore," I answer honestly. I look at my surroundings. Taking notice of the O'neil brothers home, I'd only ever seen the outside before. It was actually pretty clean considering two teenage boys lived in it.

"Take her home, Ash," Fezco tells Ashtray.

"What? I'm not-"

"I said, take her home," He repeats, getting angrier. "I got shit to do, and her family is probably wondering where she's at."

Ashtray looks at me, clearly irritated with his older brothers demand.

He then rolls his eyes and grabs his car keys from the coffee table.

"Lets go, Angelina. Before you piss me off anymore and I decide to push you out of the car while its moving."
