"How are you feeling?" She asked, Newt was slowly recovering from his broken leg. He'd been stuck in the med hut for about 3 days and was still struggling to walk.
"Bored." Newt said bluntly. Belle chuckled.
"Do you want to try walking again?" She asked. He reluctantly nodded, and Belle called over Jeff for help, and they both grabbed his arms and lifted him up.
As soon as he stepped on his leg, he screeched in pain. Jeff and Belle immediately lifted him back onto the bed. Belle sighed at the sight of Newt still in pain.
"We need some kind of support or something for his leg." Belle stated to Jeff.
"Why don't you ask the builders, I'm sure they can help."
"Well, according to Newt, they're not the smartest." Belle took a glance at Newt, and he chuckled, his face relieving from the pain.
"Yeah, not going on a lot upstairs." He laughed.
"What about Gally? He's probably the smartest out of them." Belle shot a look at Jeff.
Gally hadn't spoken to her since that night Newt broke his leg, and they shared a moment together. He seemed so hot and cold towards her, one moment he's looking in her eyes like he wanted to kiss her and the next he's barely acknowledging that she exists.
"Yeah, Gally will help you." Newt agreed. Belle shook her head in disagreement.
"I doubt that." Newt and Jeff both grew confused looks on their faces.
"Why not? You two are friends, aren't you?" Newt asked.
"Yeah, you two seemed pretty cosy the other night." Jeff chimed in. "Look, just go and ask him, im sure he'll help, especially because it's for Newt." He ordered.
Belle groaned and rolled her eyes. She didn't want another argument to arise.
She found Gally overseeing a group of boys who were busy sawing wood and hammering nails. His commanding presence was hard to miss, and Belle steeled herself before stepping forward.
"Excuse me, Gally?" she called out, trying to keep her voice steady.
Gally turned, his eyes narrowing slightly as he regarded her. "What do you want?" he asked, his tone gruff but not entirely unfriendly.
"Newt is still struggling to walk. And we need help to build something to like support him," Belle explained. "I was hoping you could help me."
The other builders started whistling and whispering remarks at Gally. He shot them all looks, and they all went quiet and went back to work.
Gally studied her for a moment before nodding. "Alright. Come on, we'll get the materials from the woods."
Belle nodded, relieved that he had agreed so readily. "Thank you."
He gestured for her to follow him, and they set off towards the edge of the Glade where the woods began.
"How's Newt doing?" He asked, but keeping his eyes straight ahead.
"He's okay. I just wanna get him walking as soon as possible. Alby has been watching over my shoulder constantly." Gally nodded, and their was silence between the two. The silence felt awkward, and she wanted to say something but couldn't find the right words.
Gally suddenly stopped and turned his body to face me but still avoiding my eyes. "Uh - I've got an idea. You stay here and I'll get some wood." He doesn't wait for her reply and already starts walking around the woods.
Belle shrugs her shoulders and wanders off. She stops when she sees a small pristine lake, shimmering under the sunlight. She runs over and dips her fingertips in the water. Belle took a quick glance back and saw Gally still searching around, gathering bits of wood.
