As they enjoyed their lunch, Maddie and Paige found themselves lost in conversation, sharing laughs and smiles. Maddie's laughter was like music to Paige's ears, and she couldn't help but steal glances at Maddie whenever she thought she wasn't looking.
KK, sensing the tension, nudged Nika and whispered, "Do you see them? I think there's something between Paige and Maddie."
Nika nodded knowingly, "They both like each other but neither want to admit it. They're going to end up driving themselves insane."
During lunch, Paige found herself stealing glances at Maddie, her heart doing somersaults with each smile and laugh that Maddie shared. She mustered the courage to speak, "We should really hang out, you know, just the two of us sometime Mads".
Maddie's smile widened, a hint of blush coloring her cheeks, "that sounds really nice Paige", she says, trying not to squeal and explode on the spot.
As they headed back to their daily activities, the air between Paige and Maddie crackled with unspoken words and shared glances, a silent promise of something more lingering in the air. Maddie was giddy the whole rest of the day without an explanation to anyone who noticed.
