Youths of Konoha - Part 3: GaaLee

2 A date?

Lee's POV

The bell had just rang, signaling lunchtime, when I walked to the cafeteria, with one of my best friends, Neji - the other being Ten Ten. They were also just the CUTEST couple on earth, and still, they always had time for me!

"There's a new girl, she was in my first class today, Ten Ten told me she will eat with us.", he said, not really seeming interested. When it came to people, Neji didn't like most of them. Hinata and Ten Ten were the most important to him, and he cared a lot about me too, but besides that, he only ever talked to Naruto, and that was only because Naruto initiated the conversations.

"REALLY? There's a new guy I met in PE too. Do you think it's a coincidence?", I asked, thinking of Gaara. He had said that he had siblings, so maybe she was one of them, but it could also be someone else. There were a lot of people visiting Konoha High, so it was hard to keep an overview of all the students, especially the new ones.

"Maybe, I'm not sure.", he replied monotonously. Yeah, he really didn't care about them.

Soon we reached the table we usually ate at with the whole group. I personally called us the "Youths of Konoha", because they were all such youthful and nice friends! And well of course because we all lived in Konoha.

As I sat down, I noticed that Ten Ten and Hinata were the only ones missing, but they were probably just talking somewhere. They had been good friends for a long time, since they were both so prominent in Neji's life, they had met a lot of times, and eventually became pretty close, even though they were pretty much opposites. Ten Ten's tomboyish, loud attitude complimented Hinata's shy and calm behavior perfectly, and their friendship had helped both of them out of problematic situations. Ten Ten often helped Hinata speak up for herself, while Hinata held back Ten Ten from throwing hands quite a few times.

Soon they both arrived at the table, accompanied by an unfamiliar looking blonde, who was presumably the girl Neji had been talking about.

"Hi y'all, I'm Temari.", she said, still standing instead of just sitting down. I was pretty happy that I might make a new youthful friend, as I chanted "HIII!", with everyone else.

Everyone introduced themselves, and soon it was my turn. "Rock Lee, but you can just call me Lee!", I informed her enthusiastically, smiling at her.

After everyone told her their name, she sat down next to Shikamaru, saying "Nice to meet y'all!".

When I noticed she didn't really have anyone to talk to, since Hinata and Ten Ten both talked to their boyfriends, I decided to talk to her, because I didn't want her to feel excluded and she seemed really nice.

"So Temari, how come you came to Konoha for your senior year?", I asked her, since it interested me. Why would someone change schools before their last year of school? Isn't that pretty impractical?

"Well, it's a long story, but to make it short my brothers and me ran away from home.", she replied pretty quickly.

I wondered what had made them run away, and hoped it wasn't something too bad. I didn't like when bad things happened to nice people, and she seemed pretty friendly.

"Oh, are your brothers here at Konoha High too?", I asked her next, to find out, if she might be Gaara's sister.

"Yeah, see, over there! The one on the left, with the purple face paint, that's Kankuro, he's the middle child. And the redhead on the right, that's Gaara, our little brother. They're both juniors.", she said, pointing over to a table filled with juniors I didn't really know all that well.

So I was right.

"Waaaaiiit, Gaara is your brother?!", I exclaimed, shocked, even though I had suspected it. It was still kind of surprising, since they didn't seem similar at all, neither from their features, nor from their character. Temari seemed more confident and extroverted than Gaara, but I only knew them for a few hours max, so I couldn't confirm that thesis yet.
