chapter 1

*6 months later*

Caroline's POV:

"Good-bye Mr.Shannon I'm leaving for the night." He nodded at me and I ran to the elevator. I had to rush because I was already late. I told the babysitter that HE wasn't going to be home till after midnight but I had this bad feeling that he may have changed his mind and came home early. My main priority was protecting my little girl. My little Veronica was everything to me, I'd die if anything happened to her. I pulled up at the apartment he made us move to because he always thought my boss would come and take me away. In my mind I hoped he would take Veronica and I away from this mad man but I still have to be strong for her.

I walked up to my apartment and unlocked the door to find HIM  sitting there holding Veronica, who was making her little baby noises and reaching for me. I walked over to grad her but he pulled her back. "Where have you been?" I reached for my baby again and he stood up. " Answer my question Caroline.. NOW!"  I flinched and finally spoke up. "I was at work. Everyone had to work over-time because the company is expanding its markets on Monday."  He nodded his head and gave Veronica to me, which surprised me. I looked down at my baby girl as she gave me one of her gummy smiles. She looked over and started giggling, I turned to see Nathan standing next to me. He gave her his finger and she grabbed it and put it in her month. He chuckled at her and took his hand back. "Go put her to bed Caroline." When he said those words I knew the night wasn't over. 

Mitchell's POV:

"Good-bye Mr.Shannon I'm leaving for the night." I nodded as I heard my sweet angel leave my office. I sighed as I heard the elevator close. I wanted Caroline to be mine so badly, but she has someone she loves very deeply. I didn't know she was even  in a relationship until last week when she was on Skype during her lunch break. She was smiling and happy and giggling, all the things I wish I could make her do. I gathered my things and got ready to leave when i saw Caroline's purse sitting on my couch. I grabbed it and walked out the building and went to my Car and pulled her wallet out of her purse. New address huh? I guess she moved, I thought to myself as i drove in the direction of her house. 

Caroline's POV:

I put Veronica in her bed and walked back into the living room. As i turned the corner i was knocked down. " I know you were with him. How stupid do you think I am? Coming home late saying that you were working. Lies all lies. What have I done to make you not love me?  Well you know what my sweet daring Caroline, if I cant have you no one can." Then he hit me over and over again. I didn't realize I was screaming until he said, "Shut up you ungrateful slut."  Then all of a sudden the door was kicked in and Nathan was pulled off of me. The last thing I remember was someone yelling my name.

Mitchell's POV:

 I pulled up to her apartment and started waling up the stair when I heard screaming and man say "Shut up you ungrateful slut."  I walking up to the door and was about to break it down when and old woman walked past me. " Son I wouldn't do that if I were you. We've tried many times and even called the police but it didn't help. There's nothing you can do."  I looked at her with a strange look on my face. "Who lives here?" The next thing she said shocked me, I turned and kicked the door in and sure enough, there she was, My beautiful angel being beaten by some mad man. " Get your hands off of her."   Then I knocked him down and hit him till he was unconscious. I got off of him and ran to Caroline. I called her name repeatedly until she woke up and just stared at me.

Caroline's POV:

I woke up to someone calling my name, when i opened my eyes I stared in shock to see my boss looking at me. "Are you ok, Caroline?"  I nodded as he looked down the hall then back at me "Is that a baby?" I shook my head and got up, while I stumbled down the hall. I opened the door and looked at my baby crying here eyes out. I picked her up and rocked her. When she stopped crying I looked at the and she was staring over my shoulder. I turned around to see Mr.Shannon looking at me and Veronica. "Pack your things and I'll pack the baby's." I nodded and walk to my room and pulled everything put and packed in a suitcase, while Veronica kept trying to get in my suitcase. We both laughed at her silliness as I finished packing. I walked out to the living room to see Nathan on the floor. I felt Mr.Shannon put a hand on my back as we walked our the door to his car.
