The next day comes fast when I open my eyes and see the bright light shining through my living room window.

I reach to my phone and notice that it's 11:45 am. Usually I never wake up this late but I guess I needed the sleep after what had happened yesterday.

I stand up from the couch and make a pot of coffee. My phone begins making bunches of sound from all the new notifications that I got. A missed call from Nadia and a few messages from my parents. My parents wanted to know if I got here safely so I quickly responded back to make sure they don't worry about me. After that, I call Nadia back and she answers after the first couple of rings.

"Hey Nadie. Sorry I didn't answer your calls I just seen them now."

"It's okay, lex. I just wanted to make sure that you got to your place safely."

"Yes I did. Uhm my neighbor brought me a gift basket and invited me to go to this bonfire at the beach last night. "

"Oh are you alright?" She asks me. I'm confused.

"I seen you on the news. You got bit by a shark." She answered my thoughts.

"Oh." I silently say. "Yeah I'm doing good. It still hurts like a bitch though." I laugh slightly.

"Look if I was there in Malibu I would come straight to your place and take care of you."  She promised.

"I know you would. It's okay. I'm a big girl. I can take care of myself."

She chuckles, "lex, you're my sister. I would still help you regardless of how old you are."

"Thanks Nad."

"I have to go back to work now. Call me if you need anything." She demands.

"I will." I promise her.

"Love you." She says one last time.

"Love you too." I tell her back before we hang up the phone.

Noon comes faster than expected and I have showered and made myself look decent. I put my hair in a bun on the top of my head and I'm wearing one of my new rompers that I bought off of shein. I decided to put on some light make up for today to clear up the dark circles that I had under my eyes. I put on my sandals and walk out the door. I decide to go to the beach today because I'm not going to let one silly shark attack scare me from going to the beach and having a fun time.

At the beach I see Kristen and wave towards her. She sees me and smiles.

"Hey Alexis! What are you doing here?" She asks making her way towards me.

"What? I'm not allowed to come to the beach all of a sudden?"

"You know what I mean." She counters and looks down on my swollen leg. "How are you doing?"

"I'm fine." I say honestly. "I broke my leg before playing soccer."

She laughs before saying, "That's not the same thing." We're both laughing and looking around us until I see Blake making eye contact with me. Kristen notices our little exchange and that makes her grab my hand and lead me over the him.

"Hey Blake." I say when he sees me with Kristen.

"Hey Alexis." He says back. "Are you okay?"

"Ugh, how many people are going to keep saying that? I'm fine!" I say again.

He chuckles, "You know you shouldn't be here."

"Oh really? Why?" I ask him sarcastically.

"You should be at home letting your leg rest." He answers my question.

"I already told you. I'm fine."

"I know. You're a tough girl I can see." He says and smiles. I don't know what to say so I just return him a small shy smile before Kristen chimes in.

"Hey, you want some lemonade?" She also me.

"Yeah sure." I answer her still my eyes locked on Blake's.

"Okay, I'll be right back." Kristen says and leaves to go get my lemonade.

"So Alexis." Blake starts.

"Yeah?"

"The carnival is coming up. I was wondering if you would like to go? Preferably with me." He asks.

"I would love to." I answer him.

"Good. So I'll pick you up around 5?"

"Yeah that sounds good." I smile.
