the three had walked for a while now, but they had finally reached their destination. steve looked around, "oh, yeah. yeah, this will do," he stated, removing his sunglasses from his head and passed them to jamie who put them on, "this will do just fine, good call, dude," steve complimented.

the trio walked forward and continued dumping the raw meat onto the ground and jamie promised herself she was never eating or touching mean again after this.

a sudden yell came from behind the group, " i said medium well!" the three of them turned around quickly and jamie's eyes widened at the girl she saw.

"who's that?" steve asked.

"max? what are you doing here?" jamie called to her. after what dustin and steve had said about the events of last year, jamie didn't want max involved in this.

"ask him!" max shifted the blame onto the boy stood next to her, who jamie assumed was lucas. jamie crossed her arms and looked at lucas with a stare, but he awkwardly smiled and waved.

max, steve and jamie spent time building defence on the bus that they were going to hide in, while they waited for dart. but dustin and lucas had disappeared to discuss 'party' stuff.

they'd been gone for to long, so steve walked over to the pair who hid behind a car and smacked a metal chair on the car, which startled the pair

"hey! dickheads! how come the only one helping me out is james and her sister?" he looked between the two for an answer, "we lose light in forty minutes. let's go go! let's go, i said!"

dustin huffed in annoyance, "alright, asshole! god!" he complained.

the group spent the next few hours adding metal defence to the bus, ensuring it was as safe as it could be against this 'demodog' as dustin had been calling it.

they'd finally finished and it had grown dark by now, so the group was now located in the bus, at different stations. lucas had disappeared to the roof, while steve and jamie were sat next to each other on the floor, dustin paced and max sat on one of the bus seats.

jamie had her head on steve's shoulder as he fiddled with a lighter, which was in his grey coat pocket. max spoke up, "so you really fought one of these things before?" steve nodded his head in response, "and you're, like, totally, a hundred percent sure it wasn't a bear?" she asked.

"shit. don't be an idiot. okay? it wasn't a bear," dustin suddenly snapped rudely. jamie's head moved off of steve quickly, glaring at dustin and his sudden attitude change, "why are you even here if you don't believe us? just go home,"

max stood up and rolled her eyes, "someone's cranky. past your bedtime?" she asked sarcastically and disappeared up the ladder to go see lucas.

"that's good. just show her you don't care," steve complimented dustin's awful attempt at flirting.
